Does Airways own those aircraft or are they also on a long-term lease? Is this information publicly available anywhere?

Hon, those 900s are Mesa property. They were ordered by Mesa for Freedom to be flown for America West before PSA ever thought about getting a CRJ-200. The 900s that PSA was threatened with post-merger were going to be new build frames that may well have replaced the Mesa aircraft.

PSA already flies the 700s on a blended rate. They wouldn't sign off on flying them for the current 700 rate.

How in the world you think USAPA will give on scope baffles me. The USAPA / US Management relationship is one of the most contentious in the industry. The current agreement has already been violated by management. The only way scope will ever be relieved is if the US pilots get some seriously sweet stuff in return. I've got a better chance of shacking up with Jessica Biel than it happening!

 

Sorry DashGirl, but those -900s do not belong to Airways in any way, shape or form. They are purely Mesa's property, however they are all leased equipment, so technically speaking some sort of lessor (bank or other financial instutution) actually owns these assets.

As such, Mesa's initial bankruptcy filing listed the leases for the -900 aircraft as possibly being up for rejection. No way would this have happened if Airways owned the aircraft. Again, the -900's are Mesa's and that is why they were included in MAG's bankruptcy case. Maybe you would understand more about how this whole process works if you were working for US Airways Group in the early 2000's when PDT was part of our own filing for bankruptcy I and II.

I also agree with the previous poster about being baffled on how in the world you think USAPA will give up on scope!?! How can you even say that without being a USAPA member that would have some sort of vote on that isssue one way or another?? The poor working conditions at your turboprop regional must be getting to you, because YOU are truly the one demonstrating your own fundamental lack of information!

 

There are 23 CRJ 900's that are owned by Wells Fargo.
14 others are owned by Mesa.

I am sure that if Mesa could not make the payments on the 23 airframes, US Airways would be happy to take over.
The other 14 would be up for grabs.

There could be more but i don't feel like looking them up.

What's the status of the retirement stuff? Is that dead in the water or what?

 

from this week's mec email:

"Senior Management has presented preliminary information to the association that could lead to the creation of an early retirement program. Retirement and insurance specialists at ALPA National are examining the information for us at this time. The MEC will review the analysis of this information at the upcoming May MEC meeting.

The program envisioned would most likely cover pilots from approximately age 55 and up, and would be offered on a one time basis. If you have any questions about this program, your LEC reps will have more information available in the next few weeks.

As we have previously stated, the goal of the Association and Management is to see this program implemented before year’s end."

it says that mgmt actually made a proposal which i find encouraging.

it'd be a huge opportunity for the folks who dont want to work till 65 and die at 67. whats the point of that?

It sounds like we've begun arguing about whether or not PSA will get new aircraft. Truly the beginning of the end when things are so bleak here at PDT that we have to sit outside the proverbial PSA window on Christmas eve and hope that they get the gifts that they want. hahahaha. My god we are pathetic. I know, let's start a rumor about ASA getting new aircraft, that'll spice things up.

 

CM said the company is ready to sign off on the deal, with the requirement that we drop our grievance for the social security bridge. ALPA national is not too keen on this because whoever doesn't take early retirement could sue ALPA for dropping the grievance. And quite a few people feel this initial offering is a low-ball money wise... So I think it's still gonna need some work.

 

Yea I doubt first time around they would come to an agreement. When does that ever happen.. ffs sometimes its a life and death battle to just get a crew meal with Piedmont.
