If the captain upgraded from the left seat in the Dash 7 to the left seat of the Dash 8, they have something in the contract that says they never have to sit in the right seat even though they are qualified. Overheard one of the 30+ year guys saying that in the crew room when a 10 year captain had to sit right seat for him.

We do do a right seat landing for captains annually now (only for about the last 2 years), to comply with Star Alliance requirements. Just because something is kosher per Star Alliance (or the FAA, or anyone else) doesn't mean that our contract has to allow it.

April class was added to the seniority list. Looks like they got all 16 that they wanted. Also, as of the middle of March we had 411 pilots and with this class of 16 it only brings us to 419. Looks like 8 people left in the last couple of weeks.

I believe the May 3rd class already has 16 people in it as well. I know there is already a roster for a June class too.

Study study study everything in the new hire packet they give you. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to do those tests that must be done before showing up for class. Also, make sure you have a good handle on section 6 of the Pilot Operating Handbook (limitations) as well as call outs/flows and general systems knowledge. My buddy just went through and I gave him that same advice and he was happy he knew as much as he did. The more you know the less stressful it will be. STUDY STUDY STUDY!!!!
