Is upgrade immediately out of training if you have over 2500TT and 1000 SIC 121? That is what it states on APC

Yeah, upgrade is there when you want it.

For new guys, keep in mind that you absolutely will not get 1,000 hours in your first year. I know some guys who fly about 35 hours a month in sby as an FO. That's the only place the recruiters are being a little bit untruthful in regards to upgrade time

Yeah. But I'd suggest waiting 3-4 months and upgrade in the 145... I'm fairly certain the next classes will offer new hire 145 positions anyhow.

If you take sby as base right now. There is no reason you can't fly 900 hours in a year.

Sby reserves are pretty much used exclusively for SBY. You couldn't pay me enough to be SBY, but some people live down there and it works very well for them.

I talked to a recruiter from Piedmont today. I'm a few months out from having my CFI, and their cadet program sounds really tempting. This is the gist of what they told me:

-Low upgrade times (12-14 months)
-Will pay me $500 for every 100 hours I log as a CFI on my way from 500 to 1500 hours ($5,000 total)
-First year pay will be in the low $50,000s (including bonuses)
-Minimal time on reserve, 6 weeks is the average right now
-Guaranteed flow to American after 5 years (but usually around 4 years)
-Great benefits

The whole deal sounded good. Almost too good. Any downsides the recruiter left out? I'm from the west coast but if everything the recruiter said was true, I would be more than happy to move to the east coast if it meant flying for American in 6-7 years.
