I talked to a recruiter from Piedmont today. I'm a few months out from having my CFI, and their cadet program sounds really tempting. This is the gist of what they told me:
-Low upgrade times (12-14 months)
-Will pay me $500 for every 100 hours I log as a CFI on my way from 500 to 1500 hours ($5,000 total)
-First year pay will be in the low $50,000s (including bonuses)
-Minimal time on reserve, 6 weeks is the average right now
-Guaranteed flow to American after 5 years (but usually around 4 years)
-Great benefits
The whole deal sounded good. Almost too good. Any downsides the recruiter left out? I'm from the west coast but if everything the recruiter said was true, I would be more than happy to move to the east coast if it meant flying for American in 6-7 years.

the pay right now is in the low 50's but thats with a lot of temporary bonuses going on
they might not still be in effect by the time you finish the cadet program. so figure on, I believe, 38/hr at roughly 80-90hrs a month as a line holder (reserve can vary wildly from minpay of 75 to well over 90hrs)
the flow time frame is probably a bit overly optimistic unless they can secure the growth they want to get (count it as 'best case scenario' type of numbers)

The dashes are going away at 1-2 a month. We are getting 3 jets a month starting in Jan with plans to hit mid 30's by next summer. The only cap on jet acquisitions per the CEO is our ability to staff.

Dashes are timing out and we are accelerating their departure as well as the number of jets we are bringing online. I think we go up to 2 jets a month in January, and that'll continue indefinitely for as many planes we can staff.

Heard the number 80 for the 145s and an undisclosed number of 140s as well.
