In 2003, we gave concessions to get "Jets for Jobs", which guaranteed flow down for potentially furloughed mainline pilots, and no guarantee for us. ALPA was okay with that because the more we conceded financially, the cheaper our feed would be and the more money would be left for the mainline pilots. ALPA's mainline vs regional conflict of interest once again reared its head. Wholly owned or not, the less the feed costs, the more salary money is available to the bigger ALPA carrier. Brotherhood begins and ends at the wallet.

The mainline pilots never intended to give us any flow up of substance, because they still (and always will), want to be able to hire their kids, their neighbor's kids, and their squadron buddies at their discretion.

Default Pdt is a dead stick

Piedmont management have no clue. They can't seem to be able to run a mom and Pop operation, let alone a regional airline with Jets. They can't figure out how to get EFBs (Ipads) up and running or get schedules that cover all the flying for the month or even the ability to run hub bases. If you go to pdt your putting your certificate on the line. That place is a violation waiting to happen. When you are cheap things cost you more at the end.

It doesn't seem as bad as one would think. There are 9 new hires in the June class, which is more than we have had recently. August schedules suck IMO...lots of 11 and 12 day off hard lines, at least in my base. Newer folks w/less than 6 months are getting lines and build-ups. Good time for my vacation

FO open time has been premium for most of the summer, and they offered a vacation buyback as well. Not sure how many people took the offer because it wasn't very lucrative.

They've managed to cram so much flying into the lines for August that there is very little open time. Consequently, the Aug 14 schedules are probably some of the worst we've seen (my opinion, but I think many agree.) Almost nothing more than two days off at a time with one 3 or 4 day break if you're lucky. Lots of lines have night and morning trips mixed together. The majority have only 12 or 11 days off.

Last summer, time away from base tended to range from ~250 to 330hr or so at the high end. This year the LOWEST lines have about 330hr TAFB, with some breaking the 400hr mark.

You guys have to start calling in fatigued on a regular basis. If this happens the company will be forced to change schedule construction to some degree. Per the FAA. Schedules like that over the long term will burn everyone out. Draw a line.

What's the TX center?

We had a proposal out to AAG regarding refleet for a couple weeks now. The rumor is AAG called in our negotiating committee yesterday with a counter proposal. No word yet on what it was.
