I'm pretty sure, they know that the fuel price is high, and if they wanted to do something about it, they would have done it already. It's not that they live where fuel is cheap, theyre dealing with the same problem. Every citizen can write a nice long letter asking for lower fuel price, and Im pretty certain that it wouldnt change much.

Maybe Im just too pessimistic, but ill give a woot for the recent decrease in oil price.
Do it

If everyone wrote/signed a letter asking for lower gas prices wouldn't that just be like saying:
"To whom it may concern, I still have a huge demand for oil, especially if the price was cheaper"

regualtions on oil will make the price of gas go up in the long run, just look at the EU

I love how if you look at the bottom of this page where all the related threads are, you see a post back in 2005 about "oil prices hitting $80 in 2 years"

Drill here, drill now, I don't care how long it takes. We need to rely on our own resources!!! It will not stop or slow down alternative energy research.

That is funny snipper!

GE Energy Efficient light bulbs

A 60W equivalent light bulb only burns 13W and a 40W equivalent light bulb only burns 10W. That’s a 75%-80% reduction in energy. You can get a 6 pack at Wal-Mart for around $10-$13 and they have a 5 year warranty. They take a few second to heat up and produce their max lighting but what’s a second or two when it can save you hundreds to thousands of dollars?

So, since most of the energy we use in our household revolves around light bulbs you can see why we had such a huge drop in our electric bills.

Also, when you leave a room.........turn the lights off. Check out the MythBusters episode on the wattage difference between leaving a light on seeing that you plan on returning to the room in the next 5 minutes as compared to turning the light off and then turning it back on when you return. It’s truly eye opening because they proved that the energy BEP is less than a second.

Has there been an answer communicated yet for the disposal of CFB's? If an easy, convenient answer isn't communicated relatively soon the same people who march down the street chanting CFB's, CFB's will be the very ones who will begin chanting Mercury, Mercury.

I replace my legacy bulbs with CFB's as they burn out but don't have a lot of faith in the disposal/recycling of these bulbs. The typical lazy American will end up throwing these away in a landfill which will one day contaminate ground-water.

Most local sanitation departments will take CFBs wherever they accept other hazardous materials (fluorescent bulbs, batteries, motor oil, etc) for recycling.

I agree with you though, the mercury content of them isn't very well communicated...

Why so the oil companies sell it on the world market for the going price and most of it goes to China/India? You are right, they need to make even more record profits. While they are raking in that money they will be using all of the U.S. oil reserves that we may need down the road when it really hits the fan. Drilling here now will only hurt our future, there is no way that domestic oil will be drilled and sold to us at a discounted rate. What company would agree to drill if that was the case?
