No, I think that's about right for the RJ and probably earlier for the Bro.

The senior folks in PSP already have an RJ/EMB base. Why would they be yearning for an LAX base? The SAN guys will have bumping rights when that base gets closed, because of EMB reductions.

In the past the company has run a class, because there has been growth and pilots were needed to fill spots. This is not the case in this situation. Training is expensive and the company's not just going to run a class because some senior people finally decide they want to transition.
There are two issues here, and I suggest you review your policy manual.

MKE DO NOT have priority over other domiciles getting into LAX. It is a new base and its opening, for the purposes of this discussion, is completely unrelated to the reductions in MKE. LAX will be staffed by the most senior people in each seat who want to bid for it. MKE pilots WILL have the ability to bump pilots who are in the same seat and junior to them out of other bases.

Now as far as training goes, you are correct, there will be no classes, and as a result senior EMB guys will not be able to bid LAX.

Yes, correct but everyone keeps talking about all those MRY pilots. Well there are only 5 CA's and 7 FO's with several of the MRY FO's being pretty JR. So in essence we are only moving 8-9 pilots, who probably don't want to move seeing they are CA's and live there, elsewhere and who says they will even want LAX?

This is a very small problem and it’s not worth dwelling over. Yes it will be a huge change in QOL for those who live in MRY but it’s not like what happened to ASA when SKW shut down SLC.

JJ- correct, I was mostly referring to the PSP, SAN, and possibly FAT EMB guys who would want to bid LAX but would not be able to do the lack of classes.

You and I are on the same page and yes…………. unfortunately the lack of classes does hurt those on the EMB who want to move over to the RJ for QOL or pay but we should count ourselves very lucky to have these problems. There are so many that are less fortunate than us here at SKW.

my question is, how big is lax going to be for skywest? we're starting out with 29 lines plus reserves. anyone have any idea (more than just a wild guess) about how big it will grow?

No, the bigger question is why aren't more senior FOs to me bidding to transfer there!

What makes you think it will grow? If they added -200 lines or EMB crews I could see it (but then I'm not too sure we'll see ANY new EMB bases). If they're able to eliminate most of the -700 crews that usually stay the night then there's really no incentive to grow the base.

True..........................it's not like this is additional flying. We are mainly reducing cost by opening LAX.

Looks like it will definitely be one of our most senior bases with most all the CA's coming from SLC, DEN, FAT and PSP. The most JR line holder will have a hire date of around early 2000 with the most senior being hired in 86. If you want LAX as a CA you’ll need to have been here for 8+ years.

I think I saw the other day on the sapa site that this was an increase for United because of their parking the 73's.
