Lookin' for an update on Great Lakes

Also sorry to hear about the uncomfortable interview. But sometimes airlines come up with ways to make someone uncomfortable to see how they react.
I heard of on such instance when a pilot was interviewing for a major airline (back in the 80's) and they had the usuall interview panel, however two of the "interviewers" were actually psychologists. The pilot applicants were given a wooden rocking chair to sit in during the interview. The interview would be conducted as normal, with the psychologists acting as "HR" personel with canned questions. During the interview these two psychologists would analize how the people sat. Legs crossed, rocking, hands on knees, ect. The psychologist would then creat a psycological profile of each person.
The panel would take the psychologists notes/profile into consideration when selecting pilots.
Just an FYI, not tying to call anyone out.

About 2 years ago I tried for a job at GLA, was even offered an interview. I had a phone interview, which was a joke, then offered the real interview. I must say that the whole process was a joke. Looking back now I am glad I did not jump at the first "airline" that would hire me, first year pay across the board sucks, but Gla is plain out sh!%%!! Trust me I am not much better of now at the airline I am at, Comair, but we all deserve a hell of a lot better than GLA!
Lakes is not an easy job. In fact, IT SUCKS sometimes. I still look back, however, with fond memories of my time spent there. It is still the best-kept secret in the airline industry. I was moving on to the majors with 1000 PIC in my back pocket when my RJ buddies were just upgrading.
As for the interview. Who knows if they were rude or if they were just testing you... WHO CARES! Quit crying about it and play the game!
Don't let them rattle you. Pampered mama's boys need not apply. I can tell you from experience that the pilot group is superb. You will make many connections if you stick it out there and you will find yourself at least in a position to get your dream job. Right now i can call a buddy from about every major airline and/or fractional and get a letter of recommendation from them. I met all of these friends at GLA.

We did play the game, that is why we interviewed; and if expressing an opinion about an experience is considered crying, sorry if you interpreted it that way. I wasn't rattled--just relieved that I got the information from the interview that I needed to make my decision about GLA. I agree about the fast upgrade time, but why such the hurry? Why not enjoy flying, and go to a company that you will enjoy? We're all different, and I respect the GLA pilots for what they do.

I have been contemplating whether or not to tell my GLA interview story.....I've been so ticked off about it!!!!
Last week, I flew from the east coast out to Denver, changed at the airport, took the shuttle over to the Red Lion and told the very nice lady who collected my log book etc that I was two hours early, because that was the best flight I could get. She said they could probably fit me in early which was a blessing because I did not have to stay the night in Denver and actually got home the same night!!! Anyway, now for the "not so nice" lady who introduced herself to me and who I believe is just an HR person, not a pilot, but I'm not really sure of her title. She and I went into another room where she introduced me to the other guy(nice pilot) who would also be interviewing me. Ok, first of all this lady is so not a people person. Of all of the ludicrous questions she asked me.....She asked me about my driving record of which in the last five years I had one ticket for disobeying a traffic signal. I explained to her that I was on my way home from work, got off on an unfamiliar exit to get gas at 2am and made a left turn where there was a "no left turn" sign but it was so dark I could not see it. So she asks me "Did you learn anything from this?" Come on, what is this lady some kind of nut case. I have no DUis, no criminal record, already work for an airline, blah blah blah. Besides the fact that she is a total b*****, her last question was "why should we NOT hire you?" Who asks that kind of a question. I felt like saying........"it sure has been hard to quite that cocaine habit, at least AA sure has worked well so far, I've been sober for 5 days now and the attempted murder charges against me were finally dropped for lack of sufficient evidence"!!! She is on a total power trip, GLA should be ashamed to have her represent them. If I could go back I would have told her to "kiss my a**, thanks for being such a b****, good luck getting anyone want to work here with YOU!!!!!!!

If GLA didn't hire you, consider it a favor.
Some of my buddies didn't get hired at Comair back in 2003, went straight to their second choice (CHQ), and are now senior captains waiting for the majors to start hiring again. Comair did them a huge favor, even if it didn't seem like it at the time.
Best of luck at the next airline.
