It was a joke about Lakes not hiring Riddlers.

In all seriousness, as an x-Laker, I would tell you to consider every other option you have instead of Lakes. In this hiring down-turn, Lakes is the last place you want to get stuck for a few years. The feds are all over their ass for a bunch of minor incidents, and it is making management lose their collective mind. I strongly suggest you find work else where. I'm on the chopping block at my new airline and there is no way I would ever go back to Lakes.

Not terrible advice! And it is true that some recent incidents have made things a little less like the "old days" I've been told. Best to consider every option. Including Home Depot or Subway! I Heard Starbucks is furloughing so watch out for them.

Default Please!!

Does anyone know what the typical work schedule is at lakes? On/Off days? Commutable? Min days off on hard line vs. reserve line? How about reserve lines after upgrade. Thanks!

i interviewed with them back in may, got the offer for a training date, but turned it down after i got the offer from comair. turned out to be a mistake since comair put me in a pool a few weeks before my training date but oh well, such is life. interview was cake but i heard that the failure rate in training is about 70% because they expect everyone to be a pro at NDB apps and holding and fun stuff like that. the class before the one i would have been in i think 1 out of 8 made it through. i had 800TT and 50ME when i got the interview but word on the street at that time was if you were rated you should apply. im sure that went up a little given the state of the industry. i really would have enjoyed working there i think. would have been great experience and really hone the flying skillz. not the greatest pay or benefits but thats not everything in life. if anyone has any questions about the interview or anything just PM me and ill try to help. laterz

yep, that is true! the April class had 8 people, 7 failed! I was in that class, and it was pretty brutal! i was the lucky one though It has indeed gone up, and published minimums looks like what they are using more to interview people! On that note, we are still hireing! Lakes is what you make it out to be. If you have lots of debt, or a significant other with big spending habits, then lakes is probebly not the place to go! If you love strong unions, then Lakes is probebly not the best place either. If you want a fair contract with good commuter clauses, sick days, paid vacation, or no training contract...you guessed it, dont come here. If you want to fly in some challenging places, with great crews and a fun airplane, then by all means come here. Of course, if you want to upgrade, get quailty time and leave, come to lakes, you will fit right in! Thats my two cents on the whole thing!

This is true, Lakes is not for everyone. There curently is a class of +/- 30 people, 9 for the EMB120 and rest on the 1900. Trainning is tuff, much like a fire hose.

Schedules suck, somewhere between 10-16 days off per month. The more senior the more days off you can bid for. Usually 2-4 days off in a row if you dont get Jr. manned. Mnay people commute for their trips, depends on where you are comming from, DEN is usually pretty easy to get in and out of. The Jr. guys get sent to STL for now but can usually bid back to DEN in 2-3 months.

GLA is probably done hiring for the E120 for now, but the 1900's flying is growing rapidly. You most likely would get the 1900.

PM me for more questions.
