Default Lookin' for an update on Great Lakes

Ran a search and I'm still looking for an answer to a few things. I was trying to find some recent info on GLA. Any information from current GLA pilots would be greatly appreciated. From what I see, they are hiring right now. Do they see hiring coming to a stop anytime soon? Are they pretty firm on their minimums of 750/50? Do most new hires get DEN or STL to start off with? I hear that new hires start in the 1900. What's the possibility of transitioning to the Brasilia look like? What is a typical schedule like? How long are you away from home? Thanks in advance guys.

I'm not an employee but I have talked to my friend there and I can answer some. I'm interested in working there as well in the coming months

-They are hiring and expanding
-New hires typically go 1900 in STL, the Brasilia can be requested
-You can get DEN in about 2-3 months
-I've heard you can apply with 300/50 and you should be okay

As far as schedules, hopefully past or present Lakers can chime in

Hiring will slow eventually because no one else is hiring. If you want in, then try to get in asap.

My guess is Lakes has more people applying with more time now because nobody is hiring besides them. You would probably need an internal rec to get on now with 300TT. I may be wrong.

Plan on STL as a new hire.

Transition to the Bro is not possible. You can request it, but plan on the Beech. You want the Beech anyhow because it will make upgrade easier. I know this from personal experience.

Typical schedule... plan on not having a social life for a while. Ten days off for reserves and you don't get to bid on reserve schedules. All you get to bid on is your INV days, which are days they can't call you for a junior man. Lots of legs, long sits, block pay regardless of actual time flown, reduced rest, etc.

Great people, great flying, and you will have some skills and fond memories when you leave there... but you will never want to go back and do it all over again.

I also heard that the new hires have 3000+TT and previous 121 experience. I doubt anyone would be competitive with less 1000 hours. I have heard it is hard work but the upgrade is fast and everyone there is there doing their time but fun to fly with.

My friend had an interview, and got hired with 750/40. I got an interview invitation in July with 800/20, and they said they will interview me in August when an interview date come up. However, we both know captains who work there, so that could be why.

Actually, I know a few ex-riddlers that went to Great Lakes. Including one that got hired even though he had never seen or touched snow. TB, feel free to jump in.
p.s. Nice avatar.
