Most of the reason for AWAC operating UEX routes out of IAD in 2002, was because of the conflict ACA had because they operated for both UAL and DAL. AWAC did the IAD-ATL route because ACA couldn't fly into a DAL hub for another carrier.

Yep, I remember that. I thought I remember them adding some more destinations beside ATL?

I was sure hoping this would have been news for us other than Airways

It cannot be good that Airways is asking for money (again like 2005) from its partners. Sounds like a "we will go bankrupt" without it deal and RAH and AWAC are protecting the leases by purchasing min security to keep their planes flying. It is all about how many more years the ownership wants to fly the CRJ200's and not park them till the lease is out.

AWAC ownership has not shared any of the details in the Jet Services agreement between AWAC and Airways and I would expect min details from this 35million too.

Just my 2 cents.

What kind of shape is Airways in? I mean for years it seems they are always on the "brink". Can anyone shed light on this?

I may be able to....my GF is the Airways Station Mgr. in DTW. She had just gotten back from a week conference in PHX...all the big wigs were speaking.

The big reasons for these loans has to do with the upcoming purchase of aircraft....they are still the launch customer of the A350 and i think she said they will have 60 new airplanes delivered between 2010-2014

Last quarter di hurt them alot....about 2 million a day...they wont see the benefits of paying for checked bags and selling all drinks till next quarter....they are currently making over a million a day just based on checking bags.

Capacity should be back to full by the spring.....they claim they have plenty of cash on hand....these loans were also benefitting us and RAH in the years to come....how??? Who the hell knows at this point. I'd imagine alot of it is predicated on Mesa Dying.

So its not much encouragement....but I "want" to believe that upper Mgmt. wouldnt BS all the Station Mgrs. Who knows....hopefully things will start to turn around

One thing you can absolutely guarantee, without any doubt is that the 3 Amigos wouldn't have ponied up any cash if they didn't see a large return on their investment at some point in the future.

Now whether it's because Airways is a bit strapped and they want to make sure they can keep banking the profits we make them, flying for Airways or because they'll make a financial killing on this investment, is anyone's guess.

Afterall, they made back their initial $125 Million, plus another $300 Million, or there abouts.

This money will be used to buy PSA 900's ad give us cost of living raises. Whatever is left will be used to throw a BBQ on the north ramp in CLT. Air Whiskey pilots are invited (one guest only, no doggy bags) for a nominal $5.00 and must RSVP no later than 11/30. Afterwards, once it gets dark, we will be running our car keys up and down the sides of Peidmonts dash's and will be blaming RAH pilots for it.
