It's going to take more than that for a new hire class at PSA. 74 furloughed is a HUGE number when there are only 530 total pilots.

I like how this letter from JB doesn't mention the 15 pilots furloughed that were part of the projected 150 . What about our holiday? This letter makes it out to sound like they haven't furloughed which just isn't true...

(Hijack) Little to none with CAPT's having nowhere to go. Since July I have moved up 16 slots. They are still fat in CLT. Sorry, any more PSA things, lets take it to our thread. Didn't mean to steal Mesa's.

Congrats to those not being furloughed.

That was one of the first things I thought after I read the letter. There's also 40 some pilots that were furloughed during ground school. I take it you haven't heard anything from anyone yet? I would email JB and see what he has to say about it. They should just recall you guys, but unfortunately I think we all know how likely that is.

Best of luck to you and all the other unfortunate, hard-working pilots out there.

I can't count how many times I've heard from various airline crews while jumpseating:

ME: So how are you guys doin?
THEM: We'd probably be a lot better if Mesa would just die already. I know that our company is in talks with (insert United/Delta/Usair) for that (insert ORD/PHX/DEN/freedom) flying
I agree! Only I want everyone else to just die already and leave us to be the only ones .

Well my response was in line with what Duvie said so let me break it down for you. First, I could see what other pilots and Duvie were saying about Mesa dying and other regionals would be in a better position. Second, yes I am in the PSA pool and yes I probably would have be in class if they weren't around or if they were to die. Again just saying this so they can understand that I know where they are coming from and im not just some pilot. Alot of pilots think they would be back to their jobs; Comair, TSA, Republic. Third, notice how I never said anything about "Im glad Mesa is going to go under or I wish Mesa went under then I would have a job. I just said that I could see what they were saying becasue I am in the same position that they are. Finally, I dont wish any furlough on any pilot.

This really isn't Mesa doing anything nice. If you read the email closely it just says that this allows 150 pilots to keep there jobs during the holiday season. They have so many pilots timing out for the year. Bates wanted to make it look like they are doing something so nice. Alot of these 150 pilots are Dash F.O. If they furloughed them there Dash operation would be hurt. They will run the Displacement probably during the Last week of December. Once this happends, those pilots will be furloughed. It never said in that email that they are hiring those pilots back that lost there job. They just furloughed enough to keep the Dash running. We will see how nice they are come the first of the month.

We've already been over this, but if you insist on going there again, the very first line of the memo states that Mesa WILL NOT be furloughing any pilots. Six paragraphs down in a statement about how Mesa will be a little fat on pilots for the next little while J.B. mentions that although we will be overstaffed, it means 150 pilots will have a job this holiday season and through these tough economic times. He's simply stating the fact that because their not going to furlough, people will have jobs this holiday, that's it. It's just filler. Why would Mesa announce furloughs over three months ago, say the furloughs were going to happen in October, sit on them for three months delaying and delaying them and then cancel them after all of that, just to reinstate them two weeks later? Open your eyes.
