Don't you think that is a poor comparison? You care comparing Mesa to Southwest. Direct opposites.... SWA has some of the highest pilot pay in the industry, Mesa, at the bottom. People keeping the bottom feeder going are to blame.

nwa, back so soon... i figured the textual beating you received a few threads ago would have kept you in the basement a little longer. while the wounds might have healed with some expediency, clearly your post quality will require more rehabbing.

Ok, again, I must comment. Don't mean to single you out just educate you. They announced in late September they would be furloughing 150 pilots. On October 3, myself and 14 other Mesa line pilots received notice that we would be furloughed as of Oct 19. So this e-mail was misleading making it seem like they never furloughed any of the 150. What about my holiday season? They gave me two weeks notice and I was done. Again, I don't mean to single you out but I have talked to several Mesa pilots and NO ONE knows people were furloughed unless you knew one of the lucky 15 that were actually furloughed. The company, nor ALPA, have sent out ANY communication about the furloughs that actually happened. Also remember this is in addition to the 49 pilots that were furloughed in mid July that were two weeks through in ground school....

Mesa did furlough in October though. They furloughed 15 pilots. That is on top of the 49 they furloughed who were still in class. I wouldn't be surprised if they make another furlough announcement at the beginning of 2009. There is no way Mesa will run overstaffed through the economic downturn.

If that is the case then those 15 pilots should get called back because they are part of that 150 and according to you the memo states they are not furloughing any pilots. They started the furlough process back in October and realized most of the pilots at the bottom the list were Dash pilots. They furloughed as many as they could which was 15 and two new hire CRJ ground schools. They then annouced the Displacement to move pilots from the CRJ. Then didn't account for end of the year time outs, so they had to delay the whole process. All they are trying to do right now is look like the good guys. Trying to get moral up for this new contract which with PBS I hear my result in more furloughs. Mesa loves to run this airline at bare bones minimum pilots. They won't run FAT on pilots to long. Let's see what January brings.

Point is no MORE pilots will be getting furloughed....at this time. Pretty much sums up almost every airline out there.

I highly doubt they'd cancel them and then re-instate them a few weeks later.
They put out the memo because they don't want 150+ pilots to sick out Christmas and New Years.

Right... because Mesa is afraid to look like the bad guys by keeping more staff than necessary. Companies teetering on the edge of bankruptcy just like to keep the payroll bigger than they have to out of fear of looking bad. Get real....

The furloughs were cancelled because the displacements in equipment would cost more than keeping the pilots on the payroll.

Listen guys, I personally know multiple people that were furloughed out of ground school and two of the 15 active pilots furloughed. I don't agree with the wording of the memo. I was simply making the argument that I don't think this memo was referring to the furloughs being cancelled only over the holiday season. J.B. should have made mention to those of you who are currently out of a job. I think if Mesa is going to cancel the furlough they should at least recall the 15 who were part of the initial furlough. It's only fair in my opinion. Mesa needs to take responsibility for those pilots who they have already furloughed and address them when they send out memos like this. I am very sorry any of you have been furloughed, I can promise you that I'll do my part to get you back by not picking up open time.

I wish you all the best and a quick recall. Good luck.
