No, you're right. He didn't but that option is out there for some.

You wouldn't know unless I specifically said but I might have that option in the not too distant future. It's a duel end sword and da*ned if you do and don't. I hope the entire system is better when decision day comes around to make it much, much easier.

I liked the "trees" comment. Reminds me of "The Great Outdoors":

Give me a DAL seniority number and furlough me, please. My wife makes enough money so I don't mind being "daddy daycare" for a few years, 3 or 4. Besides, you keep your longevity increases while on furlough at DAL.

Of course they will which will make it even tougher to get on with a UPS, FEDEX or SWA since that is everyone's first choice. My point goes beyond just the pay aspect and as mentioned the risk of furlough is always lingering with one industry hiccup. Its not just all about pay. Its that short sightedness thats been a contributing factor to saying yes to subpar contracts.

If you get the opportunity to flow up at some point I would hope you do it. If and when the upward movement begins you'd be fortunate to get on in the early stages of movement imho.

Not everyone's............I have no desire to fly the backside of the clock for the majority of my career and SWA's experienced a large portion of their growth over the last 5-10 years. Which means they’re a JR pilot group when compared to DAL or AA.

I'm not that optimistic. We're still creating 1000's upon 1000's of commercial pilots that will have no place to go. Even if the number was cut in half (doubtful- didn't happen during the last downturn), we're just adding to a glut of pilots that already have no place to go. It will take YEARS to work through all of these people. I feel bad for guys who are going through flight training now. They are absolutely screwed unless they have a non-aviation degree.

Even if they do find a job, airline management is going to use this glut of pilots to drive down wages even further as pilots are going to be willing to do anything to fly a big, shiny jet. If management was smart, they'd start "pay to play" all over again, ala Atlantic Coast and ASA. There would be no shortage of applicants.

Don't forget that Babbitt’s talking about creating 121 mins. He's mentioned 1500TT or ATP mins in order to be hired by a 121 carrier, you won't have to have an ATP but you'll have to have the hours. Thus completely cutting off the quick route to the regionals and ending the 0-Hero pilot age.

We need this and we need this now and Randy has my full support.

And this is exactly the way we need it to be. In the end, if this happens, it will be a step in the right direct and it will have an amazing impact on our ability to regain some of what was lost.

Just imagine.............no more 0-Hero SJSr's. How will Colgan, GoJet, etc get pilots in 10 years if they can't hire 300 hour yonders?

You guys do know that it would only take a few more months of instructing at ATP to get 1500 hours. Alot of the days are 8 flight hour days and 7 days a week pretty much.
