Maybe the wx will be bad enough that all the cancelations well be blamed on Mother Nature

How does this operation exist? Can't get a hold of scheduling. Dispatch can't get updated runway condition reports. (gave them 45 minutes.) What a joke.

Its only December and the wheels are coming off.

12/22/08 - 58 hours CA opentime and 14 hours FO opentime. Good luck filling it.

What was that displacement memo we just got?

Can't wait to see this place in February. Anyone got any stories?

Don't forget the JM memo that came out the before the displacement memo

On the widebodies the coverage is closer to 10 to 1. A lot of reserves are getting the week off. True, there are a lot of trips "advertised", meaning guys are hoping someone will pick up their trip, but there's very little open time. I just spoke with a friend in the crew room yesterday who's on 737 reserve. He said he's flying about one turn a week right now. For the month he's flown 29 hours.

I think we'll operate just fine, unless we get hit with a heavy EWR storm, and having the furloughees back for that wouldn't make any difference because crew scheduling would, as usual, still be overwhelmed. I really wish we had a compelling need to drive the company to return the guys on furlough, but unfortunately it doesn't look like its there in the current schedule.
Yes, really! And you have some good points. I looked at it too, and it's pretty thin but covered. Wish those guys on furlough could have helped, but hopefully it will all sort out soon.

Any former MIT Engineers here who regret their decision of living the glamorous life of an airline pilot?

Ahhh... the great annual winter meltdown at Pinnacle. It's becoming a tradition! YOu'd think the boyz down on Noncaring would have learned from the last several winters and realize the end of the year brings lots of people timing out so long as they schedule to the max on duty and the min on rest.

I think its a calculated loss. They would rather be streched super thin for one month, and be just thin the rest of the year. They aren't stupid, they are manipulative, sneaky, untruthful, heartless, penny-pinching, totalitarian and well.... just mean. Merry Christmas

Seems to be the norm out here these days..

Compass had over 1500 hours of uncovered flying earlier this month in open time from Dec 16 -31 and that was only for the MSP crews!!!!

Guess that meant alot of giving flying back to NWA to cover or just cancel them all. Who really knows. I would not be shocked to see the reserves flying more than line holders...I had 95 hours scheduled this month alone.

Dispatch at Pinnacle is the worst... forget about field cond reports, they can't even give legal Alt's or for that matter even read wx...
