6. A furloughed pilot, including a pilot on voluntary furlough, will retain and accrue seniority while on furlough and will retain and accrue longevity
while on furlough and receiving pay in lieu of notice.

So seniority only while on furlough - longevity only comes extra is you are receiving pay in lieu of notice.
How about this then.

23.B.1.a: A pilot will be recalled in order of seniority. When a pilot is recalled, his longevity date will be adjusted forward by the amount of time spent on furlough.

Sounds like accrueing longevity to me.

I think you're misreading that - what it means is if your longevity date is 1/28/08 and you are furloughed exactly a year, your longevity date is adjusted forward to 1/28/09. Make sense?

As much as I'd like to see longevity accrue, it won't happen and I don't want anyone to build false hope.

i talked to ALPA about this today. Moves forward (on time spent on furlough) to date of hire. So if your DOH was 3/10/08 (just 30 days short of yr 2 pay) and we get recalled in 6 months. Add 6 months to your DOH and that is your new longevity date and 30 days after you start again you'll hit yr 2.

Thanks guys. I was just about to correct my previous post. It sure would be nice if we did accrue longevity, so I wouldn't have to come back to 1st year pay.

yeah and we are all just 1-2 months shy of it anyways. Just a $1.00 difference from yr 2-3 vs $12 difference from yr 1-2.

Just got word about ASA trying to secure jumpseat and pass travel for furloughees. That is a big deal to me being that I have a lease in ATL and obligations out west. Hope I'm not reading to much into that like I did the whole accruing longevity thing.
