#1 - Choosing a regional based on current upgrades is like chasing the end of a rainbow for a pot of gold. You get tired and in the end you sound like a jackass.
#2 - I don't get why we have all this bickering between Comair and Mesaba pilots. First off both being wholly owned i think we will be the first to take a beating in bad times. Second i think we have to worry more about the other carriers whipsawing us more in this Charlie Foxtrot called DCI. I am actually worried if i ever try to Jump seat on Comair flight i may encounter some FO on here that will tell the captain i must fly the overgrown RJ and wear my epaulets upside down and then will be denied because of this board. This is just shouldn't be the case.

Most pilots hired at Mesaba and Comair went there as their first job. So why wouldn't DOH be appropriate. So you got lucky and upgraded to CA after 2 years and that is the Comair's pilots fault for going to Comair. Guess management deciding who gets what flying should dictate the merger. DOH would be the only fair way.
Don't forget what the Comair pilots stood up for.
