They are pilots, rare, but still just pilots.
I would be prouder if it were an entire crew of blind African-American women.

apparently you did.... go check out a world history textbook and look somewhere between the 3rd (or 4th) century and the 17th century....thats where my peoples comes from. Although, that was so long ago I couldn't care less and it was white on white so I guess it wasn't a big deal huh?

so you (or your parents) segregated yourself by going to private school? Doesn't seem like it was worth the money since you didn't even learn world history....your folks should ax for a partial refund.

Default Congrats

I'm happy that CNN did this story, as a pilot that goes in speaks to kids about the profession, this story can touch the hearts of more young people than I might be able to reach personally.
And if anybody wants a good read about the struggle blacks have had trying to get in this industry pick up the book "Turbulence before takeoff;" about the first black commercial pilot that had to go and win a case in the Supreme Court in 1963 before this Air Force officer was allowed to make a living for his family.
Can anyone guess what major airline that is still around today fought him in court for five years to keep him out of the flight deck?

Cool

I say... CONGRATULATIONS!

I can't wait for the time to come when an accomplishment like this is NOT newsworthy. But in todays world ( and based on a lot of the unfortunate comments on here, even), I'd say it is more newsworthy than 99.8% of that other crap on TV.

Once again, congrats to these ladies!

You guys are missing the whole point. There was a time, and not too long ago when such an event would not have been permitted for various ugly reasons. It's something for us all to be proud of here in this country given our history. It shows that opportunities are available to all of US, and the only thing holding us back is ourselves, Had our history been right when dealing with each other in the past, such an event as two African American Females flying a commercial airliner would be mute event. In this day and age The old saying " He who argues for his limitations gets to keep them" has never rang more true.

Instead of tit for tating each other, find comfort in knowing your part of a generation that is evolving into one that is not predicating wether or not a person deserves a shot at an opportunity based on quotas, skin color, sex etc, but on ones abilites to meet or exceed the task for which one is hired for.
