First All-Black Female Flight Crew Flies To N
#61
Obviously there is nothing spectacular about a crew operating a flight to BNA, the cockpit controls operate the same no matter what your skin pigmintation is. The fantastic thing is that although we see nothing unusual about this occurence, these crew members' parents were part of a generation that was heavily segregated in a time when it was acceptable to openly hate somebody for their skin color. I was born after the civil rights movement and fortunately never had to see that kind of flagrant BS go on, however because of that I have to remind myself that the ridiculous discrimination of these "free" Americans was going on only one generation ago.
The media sensationalizes things, no doubt, but I think its great to see how far Black Americans have come in one generation. Rock on.

But I thought as pilots we are suppose to seek out the hot chicks in places groups gather, flash our big (often fake) watch and brag about our big (often small) friend Richard Johnson. Seriously, some of you folks need to lighten up or you're going to have a dozen ulcers before you're able to enjoy the little pensions you have left.

Did that really make the news? They don't deserve any more congratulations than you or I...I'm going to go pat myself on the back now for being part of an all white-male crew flying into ORD today
For a country that is in bed with equality, we sure the heck make a big deal out of "news" like this...

I'm happy that CNN did this story, as a pilot that goes in speaks to kids about the profession, this story can touch the hearts of more young people than I might be able to reach personally.
And if anybody wants a good read about the struggle blacks have had trying to get in this industry pick up the book "Turbulence before takeoff;" about the first black commercial pilot that had to go and win a case in the Supreme Court in 1963 before this Air Force officer was allowed to make a living for his family.
Can anyone guess what major airline that is still around today fought him in court for five years to keep him out of the flight deck?

In order to understand the logic behind such decisions in the past one has to have at the very least a fundamental understanding of racial genetics.
In the past the general concensus was that the Black race was inferior to Whites as far as intelligence goes. This assumption was gathered not from hate but from such things as scientific and IQ studies.
Then along came the neo marxist 1960s movement and all those studies were thrown out in favour of "equality."
That being said, I am sure these Black women are very intelligent just like Obama but these studies took into account a whole race, not a few exceptions.

racism |ˈrāˌsizəm|
noun
the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, esp. so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.
• prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on such a belief : a program to combat racism.
Make sure you understand what racism is before using the word. The word is thrown around to freely without understanding what is means.
