Seriously. Everyone gives the lady in a restaurant 15 to 20% for brining them 3lbs of food, but they cheap out on a driver who just hefted 687lbs of bags...,

Only pilots I have ever seen not tip a van driver are millenials. I guess they assume mommy will be along to take care of it.... Or, more likely-they are too far up their own asses to give a crap.
I’m not a millennial but I do have one of my own. Get off your self righteous Your and stop trying to demean people by saying things like “mommy will take care of it” as it does nothing but make you look out of touch.

I swear people are not reading what is being said and just spouting off from their ivory towers.

If the van driver moves 687lbs of bags I will applaud them but if my bags are not part of that number, what purpose do I have tipping? As I have said several times, I tip about 50% of the time. Often I load my own because he/she has a much bigger task to handle with the fa’s. Other times I let them handle it.

In regards to the “lady in the restaurant” comment, this is exactly the women I am married too and I assure you she earns her tips. There is more to it than just walking out 3lbs of food, hence the tip. In addition, restaurant workers are often paid much lower hourly wages because a much larger portion of their income is expected through tipping. This is not the case system wide with van drivers. They often fall under a different set of rules.

Anyways, I am pretty much done with this thread as I have said all I can.

I will however finish by making a point that once again it’s the righteous people judging others here that are the problem, not the other way around.

If you can honestly say you understand me, which some of you seem to believe you can, then I am a selfish, cheap, pos millennial that needs his mommy around simply because you witnessed me not tip a van driver a buck one day. Perhaps it is time to take a look at yourself before judging others so easily and I hope I don’t ever have to deal with you in person.

Peace.

You know they have these things called ATMs and they can give you cash. Since you never use cash, a $20 should last you most of the month.

No one gives a sh**. If you do one way or the other, i imagine your life is pretty pathetic. Those whining about millenials, etc, your generation is the one whose idea it was to give out participation trophies

Sounds great, until your card gets skimmed at a seemingly safe one. No thanks!

So because there are skimmers, you're just never going to pay for anything ever again? They can take your credit card number too. Sounds like another bad excuse.

I've had my credit card stolen 6 times. I've never had my debit card stolen.

I get a giggle out of mainline folks that want to lecture regional crews about money. When you are a regional FA or FO making peanuts compared to mainline crews $40 or $50 bucks a month in tips just for a ride to and from work can be a bit much. However Captains are a different story.

If you ask the van driver for something extra like a ride to the restaurant or downtown, then a tip is always appropriate for something outside of a ride to the airport.

Also for you mainline types, most regional FOs and FAs eat out of lunchbags in order to make money off their per diem and pay bills, no spend it in tips.
