Q: Averges mean nothing to me, Mr. Cohen (RAA guy). What would be the minimum salary a pilot could be hired @?
A: (RAA) I don’t know. The averages . . .
A: (ALPA) 16K-18K
Q: And commuting?
A: (ALPA) Yes.
He sure knew the answer a while ago, but when its not in his favor he plays it off. I like how ALPA had to answer that question for him.

Q: You say pay is not a factor in safety. I disagree. I don’t want my police and firemen to have second jobs as mayor. Pay creates quality. Do you honestly think that 22K is adequate for professional pilots?
A: (RAA) the pay @ RAA airlines is the result of CBAs.
They can uphold to this statement if and when we get released from the RLA. Otherwise, Cohen can go screw himself.

Today I think Captain Prater did an excellent job as a speaker. Not only was his speech detailed but it also addressed every issue that we have to face day to day. I look forward to the next meeting.

I am also surprised at how fast these meetings are taking place.. Dealing with the government I'd figure we would have a few months worth of breaks before we get to see another meeting.

Overall I think were on the right track. Keep the letters flowing and the phones ringing.

They may not want their firemen & police to have second jobs, but many of them do...or ***** as much overtime as they can possibly get.

Kinda like many pilots, when you think about it...

So I am wondering where Mr. Cohen gets this number of 8500 hours for the average captain and 3000 hours for the average first officer at a regional level. His numbers just amaze me!

Don't mistake average for median. One high or low outlier can greatly skew the average of a data set. Look to the median to understand the true distribution of the data.

It sucks, but it's the truth.
More accurate than we all would like to admit. There are a lot of jobs where a person is responsible for the lives of many others at one instant. Let's not kid ourselves.

It's a free market economy and folks are willing to accept piloting jobs that pay $16,000.

Let me say that again;
It's a free market economy and folks are WILLING to accept piloting jobs that pay $16,000.

Two senators said the same exact thing you wrote in the hearing today. I can't remember there names but I am glad that they caught onto that as well.

At minute 118:00 the senator begins to grill Cohen on FAA certified maintenance. It looks like Captain Prater has a nice smirk on his face around minute 119:33 as Cohen is being grilled. At minute 119:43, with Cohen stumbling upon his own words, you can see Captain Prater roll his eyes up with a bigger smirk on this face.

What do you all think? Was this really the case of just an illusion? If so, that's pretty funny.

unfortunately I came into the streaming video a little late this am, after Prater's intro. However one thing stood out when the chairman stated/asked that (paraphrasing of course) "is it true F.O.'s could make $10.00/hour, which would equate to $21,000/yr." I hope he is also "schooled" to the effect that we do not work 40/wk, equalling 2080 hours per year.

I am, for the first time, proud of ALPA for standing up for the regionals. Thank you Capt. Prater. On the other hand, Cohen is a slimebag and represents all that is wrong with our profession.
