How hard would it be to see the difference of what a pilot would have made under the new payscale and then give a percentage of that based on what the 10 million is able to give? If a pilot would have made 50,000 more over the last 4 years, then pay as high a percentage of that as possible so that everyone gets the same percentage of what they should have made. I've read arguments about who has worked the hardest and pilots on reserve not getting high block. That's kinda beyond the point IMO.

1. Who went to the -900 and when.
2. Who upgraded and when.
3. Who upgraded super quick and got displaced.
4. Who was an FO the entire time.
5. Who has been a CA but bid CDO's for time at home with the wife or little ones.
6. Who was bought out at 100 hours a month.
7. Is it justified with Prefbid that a guy topped out gets 75 hours, where a guy a few years back gets 90 credit and makes more $$ than the senior guy with worse QOL.
What do you reward? Previous earnings? Lost earnings? Earnings past up?
Do you make the bonus a sign of unity (equal share)? "Pain and suffering" payment based on days under the amendable period?
There are lots of details and information that I will not release until after the MEC meetings next week and a vote on the TA. If the TA gets voted through with a "yes" you can expect some long and detailed posts very quickly. My mind is made up after seeing things in writing.
Scott is doing a great job and I can only imagine when the man sleeps. Text messages at 11pm asking "can you take a call" and early morning emails that make complete sense when I am still trying to make my TV turn on make me think SE is sponsored by starbucks.
Selcall is only getting bits and pieces- there is NO reason for us to vote a contract through to live with for 5 years and then enter an amendable period with only one year's worth of a COLA. There are alot of politics that involve the situation we are in, I would expect to see some interesting things over the next couple weeks.

Personally i'm all for equal split fo/ca based on months served since the amendable date.
I also don't see why in the world we only have 1 year COLA after the expiration of the new one. Lesson not learned? or positive the big "O" is still gonna be in the white house and make us a priority?

There are a lot of things we SHOULD be getting, but the reality of the situation we have this TA, and we also have FO's making $23k a year who can barely afford basic necessities, and voting no will mean at least 2 more years at this poverty level with no guarantee things are going to get any better.

So we just found out that before we ever agreed to a dual qual system by voting on the TA, the union has signed an LOA allowing ATL FO's to go into differences training starting monday and be trained to be dual qualified on the 200 and 900 for DTW flying and getting paid 900 rates for all of the flying they do, meanwhile its pushing DTW fo's down the list back to reserve.
We not only need to vote no but we need to organize a new union the day after.

The best thing is is that now we are going to have people who will be rushed through training and put on the line flying a plane they havent flown in a year or sometimes never and now they will be flying it and probably flaring way too high. I am thinking about using the part in the FOM that says the captain may chose to let the FO fly or not. Its not a knock on the abilities of the ATL pilots, i just particularly don't think its right and i dont think its safe.

The MEC is walking a very thin line right now for many. The TA needs to get voted down and this LOA revoked. I am speechless over the last 2 weeks of actions. I am a very strong supporter of ALPA and its fully understood that no union is perfect, but this is getting truly out of hand. We have a 99% strike vote, industry leading performance, and we just keep on giving I guess.
On the retro pay, if it goes down the W2 route, make sure your MEC opens up their W2's. Especially if the W2 are for more than a couple of years. I know many will be surprised how well some of those guys lived, and how well they will reap a W2 based retro check. Not everything is based on parity, despite what the CBA stands for, there will always be the haves and the have not's. A few of them have broken $120K+ and they don't fly more than 500 hours a year (you do the math)

Once a TA is signed, the LOA's go away, so the LOA is telling you what language is in the TA. It is a benefit now to see the new language in action before agreeing to it. Just realize if the TA is voted down, the LOA stands until the MEC withdraws it, that is where you may need to recall the MEC.
One fundamental factor that many are forgetting, the MEC (all elected reps) work for the pilot group. They answer TO the pilot, they take direction, not give it. A few have forgotten who elected them and why they are there, you may need to remind them.
I'd hate to say this, but you can't trust anyone, there are too many agenda's, some hidden, some subtle. That includes ALPA and the company, make the right decision based on the individuals needs, not for someone's agenda.
