Kharma. Fly safe.
Yes, lets listen to the all mighty and all powerful and ALWAYS correct United States Government. Really??
Nope, I wasn't there. Good point. I'm basing my comments on what I have read. Same as you. I'm not claiming to know anything more than you. It's common sense.

I'm sure if you, your spouse and children were on that flight you'd have a different attitude. Still can't figure out why you're standing up for this obviously poor decision making....
Then it will come out in the final report.

First hand-eyewitness accounts are notoriously bad.

What company do you work for?

Actually, one of the things the US Government has an untouchable worldwide reputation for:

Aviation Safety Investigations

Then why did this story make news? You're right, we will know once the official report comes out.

I know passengers love to over react. That's what they do best. They have NO idea what goes on behind the scenes. But I believe them and trust what they said actually happened in this situation.
It's so easy for all of us to judge and say "I would have done this and I would have done that". Looking at what we know as of now and being in situations with captains who make horrible decision time and time again (especially those who refuse to do what's right just because they will be ruffling some feathers), I stand by my call and say she MESSED UP.

I sincerely HOPE you are not in the left seat. If so, you would probably make the exact same WRONG decision. You are a danger to the public.
You guys need to grow a pair and learn how to make the right decision.

As a CRJ200 FO you sure know a lot about Captain's authority. Not that I'm a captain either, but I think you need to at least realize there are some things that even a captain can't fix. If the Mesaba guys weren't going to help and there was no other means of safely getting the passengers off, what would you do?

Keep in mind unlike the CRJ there are no airstairs on an E145 nor emergency chute. Its just low enough that the FAA expects people to jump, but that's definitely going to injure a few. Heck I wouldn't even be comfortable having the FO jump out. Let alone having the poor guy try and marshal me in and somehow covertly steal a jetway through hand-to-hand combat with the Mesaba ramp crew.

And what would you have done Mr. Backseat quarterback? I'm willing to bet you don't even have 1000 hours in the CRJ, let alone 1000 hours total time.

My oh my how it is sooooo easy to blame and point fingers when you're not in the situation yourself. Could the crew done different? Perhaps. Should they have done different? Maybe, maybe not. In this oh so glorious aviation industry, everything is political. Kinda like damned if you do, damned if you don't. Should someone just "man up"(for lack of better phrasing) and take action to get the pax off? Absolutely!!! Should we discuss amongst ourselves like "professionals"(regardless if one is a pilot, fa, dispatch, ramper, or just bored at home getting entertainment from the ***** fest of big bad typists)? Definitely? Should we sling $h!t and blame whomever comes to mind first? Well that is not necessary. Can we for once keep it clean and above the belt?
Oh and lets not blame the rampers. Chances are they were just following direction from the their authority figures. And even greater chances that the "$10 p/hr" people are making MORE than you.

If a series of post makes me want to violate this site's TOS, yours are it. Quit being a Monday morning quarterback. You don't know jack because the media doesn't know jack. If you, in the least, had the wisdom for which you pay lip service, you wouldn't be so presumptuous with your posts....which is as bad as the media when it comes to aviation. With your attitude, I would definitely want you to gain much more life experience (let alone aviation experience) before you fly me, my family or the general public.
