How long till PNCL has to hire?
#11
To clear this up, we do actually have less hours this March than we did last March. Actual numbers are 102,584 hours in March 09 and 97,051 hours in March 10. All bases have lost hours.
Now the reason many of feel that the company needs to hire is because we have 45 less pilots on the bid list. A bigger reason though is efficiency of our pairings. It seems that Delta operates much less efficiently than Northwest did. A lot of people in Detroit who used to get 15-16 days off are now getting 11-13 days off. There is also a significant number of people with only 10 days off. Lines are still being built to 90-95 hours and it is getting old when they Junior Assign on top of that.

Its pretty simple really. The places with the worst contracts have the highest turnover and therefore greatest hiring. Pinnacle has one of the worst contracts out there, and as it stands is a bottom feeder. Its a dig on the company, not on the pilots. I applaud you guys for trying to improve things and hope you do.
Now, hiring, I'm interested in. I'm furloughed so I really pay attention to this stuff. I have no interest in going to Pinnacle but I have a lot of interest in industry movement. Its good for everybody.
Now as far as the flying hours go, month to month changes don't mean much. I just asked a buddy of mine over there and he said that March '10 hours are 7% less than March '09 hours. So yes, flying may be going up, but you guys still did much more with the same number of pilots last year and hiring wasn't happening then either.
So, sadly, it still doesn't look like theres any reason to believe that Pinnacle will hire unless something changes within the company/industry/economy or theres something I don't know about here.
Oh, btw, no need to be so harsh. Also, Eagle has a significant number of airplanes on the way.

actually there is no draw down. If you look in the delta 10k reports it shows all the planes operating till 2017. Now the contract could always be mutually changed and there is a provision for a 1 for 1 exchange for larger planes but delta cant do anything about that right now.

Our hours for the 6-month preview are higher than 08/09. Keep in mind we have also had more hours than the preview each month as well. We have had attrition (albeit small) over the last 12+ months and no hiring.

Everyone at Pinnacle including management, knows we need to hire. For better or worse, management is very, very conservative when it comes to spending money lately. There will need to be several months of steady increases in hours, or large attrition, for them to hire. According to several people involved in hiring, no money was budgeted for hiring this year.

Unless you are on RSV in ATL, in which case you never fly. So what I see is a need to even out our bases.
