An AE Captain making $110,000 a year can be replaced by an AE captain making $60,000 plus his upgrade training $25,000 and the FO replacement for this upgrade captain and 1st year pay equals around $45,000.
So just in 1st year pay they can almost break even. Not including 401k matching, vacation time for a senior Captain. It will save allot of money. Of course these numbers are not the actual numbers just an approximation.
The TDY, the company didn't advertise the TDY for DFA-MFA and then since no one volunteered for obvious reasons, the junior guys on base were supposed to be Involuntary TDY. So of course the junior guys didn't like it and senior guys wanted it created a problem and since the company messed up they cancelled the TDY. This coming month MFA will be extremely short.

Would be interesting if they would hire you knowing that you are going to be a medical liability (that's the way it would be looked at). How long are you going to be on Medical leave for? If it's a while you would have to complete long term once again and they probably won't hire you at this time.

You probably know the answer, I am not saying don't tell them and deal with it when it comes to it, but think how the company operates and how they treat their pilots. Go back a few weeks reading here and get your answer.

Also, they can't terminate you for going on medical leave within your probationary year either. It is true that during your requal training (if required) they could conceivably terminate you for performance issues or the good old "good moral character" during the check ride. This, however, would raise a plethora of legal flags that any two bit freshly barred lawyer could use against the company in a wrongful termination suit. It would be an open and shut case for you, with the company probably settling. The legal system looks extremely unfavorably on anything that could be construed as retaliatory termination after medical leave.
Basically, nobody should ever be afraid to go on medical leave if you have to. Just make sure it's documented.

What,
I saw an HI6 that had a bunch of folks from DFA listed as involuntary to MIA. I actually thought it was a joke because the last sentence said "all others thanks for playing". So you're saying that was real and now cancelled?
Miami ATR only has 25 lines plus the composit. We've been running with 4-5 guys on reserve for a few months now. Basically we do all the standby's and the SJU & DFW guys will do the Miami flying.
But the December flow has 6-7 guys moving over to Miami so maybe I'll get one of the holidays off.

Also, hopefully by now you have noticed and made a mental list of those APC members who are only here to act like DBs and stir the pot while never providing any kind of help. I suggest never replying to their posts, just ignore them.

Your answer is in FM1. I don't remember off the top of my head or I would answer it for you. I know you can be given a leave of absence during your first year.
