I know, the poster that I replied to was hoping bad news were done for the year, and I said I doubt it because of the meeting next Tuesday!

Default ATR Experience

This came from a friend of mine who is a GA pilot. From a pilots perspective he thought the ATR was an interesting airplane.

From a platinum members eyes though, here are his thoughts:

1) the airplanes seats suck. They're uncomfortable to begin with and they don't recline.

2) the environmental contol stinks. The ground air can barely keep up with a warm evening.

3) the plane is loud. It didn't quiet down until the props were pulled back to 77% which took almost an hour.

So this is probably why the ATR's are going away. If and what they are replaced with should be interesting.

Can't say I disagree with any of what your friend said. I flew the ATR for about 1600 hours back in the mid to late 90's and his description seems spot on from my perspective.

I can attest to that!! In fact, they were pulled off the HOU-DFW route because platinum and whatever else members would refuse to fly AA if it was served by the ATR.

Updated schedules are out for Feb. all ATR's out of DFW. The surprising fact as of now is no destinations seem to be lost, at least for now.

He went on to add that the ATR was the only airplane where the flight attendants were adamant about not using your phone until the engines were shut down.

He also found it strange that he never saw either pilot....no welcome aboard announcements or status updates once they were at cruise. I guess we get complacent sometimes and forget to look at the journey through the eyes of the passenger.

I'm nor sure what Eagles plans are or should look like concerning turbo props. Does the Q400 have a better experience?

Should we try tontake a page from Delta and park all the turbo props and not replace them?

I'm curious from a passengers standpoint what their feeling maybe? Besides of course a cheap ticket and 1st class ammenities.

Things that make me say hmmm
