11 days off per month, in blocks of 2-3 at a time. You have the ability to swap reserve on/off days within your schedule, with other pilots, or just dropping a day of reserve duty completely.

Reserve Callout is 2hrs from phone to sign in at the crew room. No Long call. Ready reserve is an 8hr shift at the airport. There are regular reserve lines published monthly and ready reserve lines published as well.

We have a pretty decent reserve proffering system where you can bid for open flying the day before your reserve duty. It goes by seniority, so most senior picks then it goes down the list.

Few things in life beat deep sea scuba diving and drinking beer at the same time.

Open flying refers to flight sequences that have no pilot assigned to them. If I am a lineholder and have recurrent training in December and they have to remove me from a trip that trip will show up in "Open Time" and might wind up being crewed by a Reserve FO. Trips pop up in open time for all sorts of reasons like pilots calling in sick, not being able to get to the airport in time for the flight, Vacation, Training, etc etc.

As a reserve pilot you have access to our company system that allows you to view what trips are "open."
