I was based in DFW my last 15 years with eagle (ORD the first six, and a four month MIA TDY in there as well). I've never understood the DFW hate. Every base has it's "social retards".

Your $$ will go a lot farther in the Metromess than anywhere else you can be based. Believe it or not, there is stuff to do here. Heck, they even have both kinds of music, country and western.

I am sure they loved waiting 3 hours for MX to drive in from their house at 7pm on a Sunday night.-Compliance with the FAR's, and company procedures should be universal, I don't care where you are based.

Once, my FO got re-assigned during a long sit in ORD. I was paired with a brand new FO on the CRJ, second trip out of IOE. He gave me a speech "Oh, you are one of THOSE GUYS (DFW based), don't worry, I'll keep you out of trouble, and show you how we do it here in ORD." Ya, thanks there buddy, I was totally clueless before you showed up..

dont you love how they submitted it to the company, but WE CANT SEE IT!! You can call a P2P rep and get their opinionated take of whats in it. This is BS at its finest. They will have it sent out to us just as they finish up their road show of family awareness events which = propaganda of why we have to accept it, and how PBS isnt actually a bad thing.

The second we get PBS 400 of us will hit the street and the most junior captain will be around 1000 seniority now.

I'm from Chi town, moved years ago when I got based in dfw on SF3. I'd never move back to IL worthless. Other than Chicago, IL is a worthless place to live. Cold, taxes, and wait you pay .30, 50 cents more for the same gasoline I put in my car in TX. Yeah I miss my Chicago food, dogs, pizza, beef, but I prefer Tx BBQ any day. And we're not all douches in DFw, always the minority in any domicile. I get my ORD fix every few months, but at least my sked is always intact, and I get off of work onetime, every week. To each is their own.

The proposal consisted of 15 blank pages. They handed it to Management and said put whatever you want on it, and we'll accept it.

...Cross the threshhold at 50ft, Vref, go to idle power and crash land on the 1000' mark, as per AOM Vol 1, and then file an ASAP report for going below glideslope, and then write the plane up for a hard landing. Thats pretty much par for the course with a DFW CA. I'm with you Wingtips

I'll take DFW on everything but a bad TRW day anytime over ORD/LGA/JFK. It runs smoother, hardly any delays, and just like you said, you just about always finish on time.

Just remember, for every Captain you think is a jackass, there is an FO who is just as big of a jackass...

Yeah, and all the while telling me when I'm a CA I'll understand why it's that way? Guess what...after 5+ years here I have a long way to go until upgrade so I guess they'll have to deal with me a bit longer

PS, I believe in karma so don't get too worked up if this offends you

Nothing offends me anymore. I did over six years in the right seat, and I'm back there for many years to come now, so believe me, I feel your pain. You might not believe it, but when you upgrade, you will understand. I've been told the same, by several friends who upgraded over the last several years.

Have fun, don't bend any metal, and don't get violated. Beyond that, it's all good.
