A pilot was removed from an American Eagle flight Friday morning and taken into custody at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol.

American Airlines spokesman Matt Miller said the pilot was on American Eagle Flight 4590 from Minneapolis-St. Paul to New York LaGuardia.

Airport spokesman Pat Hogan confirms MSP Airport police took the pilot into custody at 7:19 a.m. ET.

The pilot failed a breathalyzer at the scene, but was taken to Fairview Southdale hospital to test for blood alcohol content.

"American Eagle has a well-established substance abuse policy that is designed to put the safety of our customers and employees first," the airline said in a statement. "We are cooperating with authorities and conducting a full internal investigation. The pilot will be withheld from service pending the outcome of the investigation."

The plane was delayed for about three hours before leaving for New York at about 8:50 a.m. It was estimated to arrive shortly after noon.

Your suppose to be the mature one here. Your the mainline guy, you guys dont do this kind of stuff.
LOL !!!

It's the "20 year old" (at least in maturity) that's making this claim and not only that, blaming those he antagonizes as the problem. I'm not "fighting" with anyone and actually find this an amusing distraction. I suppose in this instance I'm attempting to EDUCATE A CHILD......of course, with little success. I think too many of you were jacked up on Ritalin in the 1990's. This must be how it manifests itself in later life.

When you drop daddy's name to get yourself in the interview door at United, my advice is to say as little as possible to give yourself the best chance.

Mature discussion is definately not among your strong points. Personally, I think you have a strong chance of ending up like RJ, that being a disgruntled senior Eagle captain desperately seeking someone to knock down to validate yourself. You may still be salvageable, so maybe you should amble over to La Carreta, have some nourishment and refelect on your weaknesses ?

It's just a suggestion.

An unfortunate situation that happens from time to time. No carrier is immune. This pilot is in for a lot of potholes ahead and regardless of his specific situation, I'm sure is at the low point in his life now. Sad, indeed.

Updating your application puts you back into our pool of interested applicants. We would like to move you to an inactive folder, but do not want to pass over any interested applicants.

If you are not seeking a position with American Eagle, you may disregard this email and your application will remain in an inactive folder. However, if you are interested, please contact us at......

My research shows there IS a flow thru with that first name, but I won't add to this nonsense by hammering that guy as I won't follow the same stupid and possibly erroneous assumption a few notable children here do.

Anyhow, one pilot put 2 and 2 together and came up with 237. Of course, it's a known fact, if one Eagle pilot says it on a forum, dozens of gullible saps assume its true and run with a deflated football to their own end zone. Same thing happened with their TA only on a larger scale. Think of 2000 Forrest Gumps. I've attempted to correct them, but they prefer error and making themselves look like idiots instead of factual accuracy. Thus, I'm known here by these fools as "Joey", "JJ" or something to do with Kangaroos. I guess this is one way to get giggles and considering these stressful times, it's not surprising. Sadly, while Eagle has many good folks (I still have many friends there), they have some real dregs as well. There are no "J's" anywhere in my name, so in the future you (and others) can now understand what this is when you see it and place it squarly in your "stupid" file where it belongs. You'll note that the worst characters also tend to embarrass themselves in other ways here and a review of recent posts will confirm this.

You can lead a mule to water, but...........
Hey, in other forums, mwa was spreading the word a few month back.
So much for that Eagle "pal".

Seriously? It's a little hard to compare. I made captain at 27 months after being hired in 99. 9/11 changed it for everyone one at AMR. You can't say if the flow would've worked or not.
