A friend of mine, FO a eagle, referred me and I got an email from eagle telling me to update my application. They said they would review it in 2 days, make sure its right or I couldn't interview.
Should I get excited?

I have been given the January 17th class date and I had a question about bases.
I live in Florida and was considering putting for Miami on the ATR my QOL would be better in Miami especially if I'm on reserve.
However, holding a line always comes with a better QOL. Do you think NY would have a shorter reserve period then Miami?
Thank you for any input.

Someone told me that only 38 or so FOs bid MIA EMJ for 72 vacancies. Meaning new hires may be able to bid MIA EMJ perhaps on the first day of class. Any vacancies in NY will be for the CRJ which you will be seatlocked in until you upgrade, or the open a MIA CRJ base. New rumor.....

yes, pending nothing is wrong on it, you will get an interview. Make sure it is 100% correct and includes anything in your history. If you show up to interview and there is a SUPRISE your gonna go right home.

so 2 months from interview date till class date. If by the fate of god I am lucky enough to get hired at both Eagle and Colgan, I am going to be really split between taking the Jan27th class w Colgan, or taking my shots things work out with Eagle. I interview both places first week of Jan.
First I need to flat out get hired...

Adam,
can you explain more about the seat locks? Meaning, if I'm on the ERJ I'm on the ERJ and same for the CRJ?
I heard the ATR was only locked for a year....Do you know if that's true?
Thanks,
TC

The seatlock last 1 year I believe. But as an FO you cannot bid prop to prop or jet to jet. Meaning if you are on the CRJ you cannot bid the EMJ as an FO, and samething with the EMJ, you cannot bid the CRJ as an FO. If your on the ATR, after 1 year you can bid the CRJ or EMJ. As a Jet FO you can only get off the aircraft by either being displaced or upgrading to captain. I actually went and counted the number of transfers to MIA EMJ and only 45 bid it out of 72 vacancies. On the next bid probably more FOs will bid it but I believe you will see some new hire slots going to MIA EMJ.

You're seriously comparing Eagle and Colgan? Do the rest of us in the industry a favor, take Colgan.

For newhires you are locked into your equip for 12 months. Your seatlock begins 14days prior to entering training. If you are a newhire MIA ATR FO you are prevented from bidding out of it until the seatlock expires, at that point you can go from ATR to either ERJ FO or CRJ FO. Once you are a ERJ/CRJ FO you cant bid backwards to the ATR. You also cant bid laterally from ERJ to CRJ or vice versa. You CAN transfer bases, as long as you stay in the same equip (ORD ERJ FO to DFW ERJ FO for example) Make sense?
