Cut off your nose to spite your face...
Do you think WestAir would have been better off if Skywest had bought them?
You and I simply disagree on this. If given the choice of Skywest or Mesa, I would rather work for Skywest. You would rather have that ALPA card in your wallet while JO bends you over....

Tell me one instance where JA has whipsawed SkyWest and ASA. Honestly, it hasn't happened and many of you XJT guys are frustrated that you used to be a first class airline and now CAL has reduced you to operating at a loss. This merger is good for all of us, don't bite the hand that feeds

Anyways, XJT has already been whipsawd by CAL with the helps of JA. That is why we were decimated. CAL told our CEO to either give them the cpa SKW had negotiated or get the 12 months notice. The cpa SKW negotiated with CAL not only included synergy cost savings but also took into consideration a 16% paycut JA wanted to give us in order to bring us into parity with SKW pilot compensation so that we can be cost competative when CAL put all 205 A/C up for bid again in 12 months. JA said himself his intention was to put up three bids for those 205 A/C. One from XJT, one from ASA, and one from SKW...but it was up to us if we wanted to be cost competitive. That on top of the fact that he was planning on taking 35 of XJT A/C and transferring them to SKW for their pilots to fly while furloughing 700 of ours and giving them preferential interviews at SKW.
Maybe you don't think you have been whipsawed but XJT definitely with JA's help.

Its not revisionist history. Its the real history. I was in the room when JA and BR threw out their 12 month "lifeboat" for us.

I am in favor of one list because it makes us more powerful in negotiating. In addition, it will be difficult to do under their new CAL CPA that last 10 years. They have to re-fleet some of the XJT jets under the agreement and the agreement is between UAL/ASA, so the new jets will have to come to new Atlantic Southeast under the CPA so ASA can get out of the terrible XJT leases on the jets, again listen to the earnings call it was all laid out. In addition, they mentioned considering buying Comair if it could be worked out with DAL for a long term CPA, they felt Comair may be a good fit.

It will be interesting to see how bad JA wants to keep SKY independent from the combined XJT/ASA. It is obvious he has wanted XJT and its large foot print at CAL for at least 3 years. Lets face it, is would cost $100 of millions to recreate that, and years to find people to operate 274 jets, etc., especially now that all the pilots out there will be dead broke from buying a 1000 more hours of flying. Not to mention he just doubled the size of his company. I don't see him walking away from this thing even if we have to combine, I mean what does it really cost him, 80% of his flying is already going to be done by union pilots?????

Well, if the plan is/was anything like last time, JA will give the courtesy of hiring ALL the pilots that are on the street that used to fly those 274 planes. No need to buy flight time for them. Isn't that nice of him?
