Skywest running new hire classes in Aug & Sep
#11
The word on the street is that SkyWest is going to be looking for around 1600 or so all together. Around 580 or so for the Mesa work which should be showing up between now and the end of Sep. The rest is for the Comair work but won't be until after the 1st of the year. I guess their contract states that if anything is sold the pilots go with the equipment, however (as I've been told) that contract ends at the end of this year. I'm only the messengers.......................

Say what you want about Skywest, but no other airline is doing anything like this (giving 1st year prop pilots 2nd year jet pay, almost twice as much money), while allowing them to keep their seniority number, to help them through a tough time. Skywest gained several points in my book.

This statement alone shows that you have no idea what you're talking about. Mesa was granted an extension on filing their POR until Oct. 21'st with the possibility of it being extended to Dec. 1'st. Until these dates nothing around Mesa is going to change as Mesa itself has the exclusive rights to the reorganization and operation of the company. So, care to shed some light on this legally impossible September date you speak of?

The above will not happen and is a total pipe dream. See BI/EAL!

They are allowed to keep their UA number, but that's because somebody at UA alpa negotiated that.

Mesa could be dome as an asset transfer in BK with no labor recourse, but an attempt to do that to CA would result in endless lawsuits since it would clearly be same airplanes, same routes.
Even is the CA contract is up at year-end, guess what? We live under the RLA, which extends expired contracts indefinitely until a new one can be worked out. Unless CA alpa voluntarily gives up scope (hah!) an asset transfer ain't happening.
