Prevent Whipsaw: One Pilot Group(XJT/ASA/SKW)
#31
It's funny how pilots feel like we are in the drivers seat in everything we do.
My gut tells me XJT pilots sensibilities is so far down the list of SKYW Inc. priorities that they have devoted less than a few hours to this issue. These guys are moving paper and financing deals. When they get to the issue of integration they are going to get together, figure out what creates the most shareholder value and spin it so their decision is palatable to the most number of pilots.
I say we stop this ****ing contest. No pilot wants to loose senority or get bumped from a base. I suggest we work on language to protect us from the "whipsaw" and forget about integration. If we are not careful, our XJT brothers and sisters are going to (unfairly) get the short end of the stick.
SKYW knows integration equals union and that is a tough pill for mgmnt to swallow.

Thats easy. Make a fence so only vacancies allow for any pilot to transfer into base. If we integrate the lists by relative seniority, then no quality of life is sacrificed and we can maintain current QOL for all pilots, but allow greater flexibilty. FYI, the west coast bases would be the most junior bases as far as XJT pilots are concerned. CLE is our most senior base, IAH next, then EWR, then ORD.

This thread has really gotten out of hand since it was entitled as such....Everything we've been told on the ASA side is this will be ASA acquiring Xjt and being folded in SOMEHOW...Where does Skywest enter the argument here, if at all ?

If there ever were going to be a 3 way merger which is not going to happen but IF for some crazy reason it were to happen. I think skywest bases should have 5 year fences including upgrades and transfers. I also think that since we're the acquiring company that we should be benefited with a higher percent of relative seniority. I think if xjt and asa guys get to have our bases then we should get something in return, because skywest pilots gain NOTHING from be merged with xjt or asa. We would be on the losing end of this deal any way it would go down. If those prerequisites could be guaranteed then I would be open to a merger.

I would be open to just an ASA/XJT merger and let SKY stay out as a small regional if we get strong anti whipsaw language and jobs with jets language and a scope agreement that makes sure Comair get integrated with the new ASA when they are purchased. From what I see from XJT ALPA, this deal is going to get done no matter what, nothing hard on it, just soft language I read! I look forward to all my new base options and being on the largest regional list in the industry, Prater showing at the JA meeting at all should show that he at least acknowledges us as one of the largest groups in ALPA!

I'm surprised (well kind of) there is not more support for one list from ASA pilots. Not too long ago, when things were not looking good for ASA and Skywest was growing, there were a lot of ASA pilots who favored merging lists with Skywest. Now that things have picked up a bit, no one here seems to care. Collectively, we seem to have a pretty short memory.
ASA Furloughs/Skywest Hiring!?!
If ASA and Skywest Ever Merged Pilot Groups..

Using your logic if anyone should get preferential treatment (your idea not mine, I think it should be as fair as possible for all groups) then the ASA pilots should get the hight percent of relative seniority in a 3 way merger. After all, according to your beloved Skywest management, ASA is the acquiring company.

I don't understand why you are so against a 3 way merger. You believe that Skywest management hasn't used whipsaw in it's 35 year of existence despite evidence to the contrary from ASA and XJet pilots. Even if what you said was true, the past relations is no guarantee of similar future relations and you should want your pilot group to be in the strongest possible negotiating position to deal with any BS management might throw at you. Why even give management the opportunity or temptation to whipsaw? Can you 100% guarantee that they won't? No you can't, therefore you should integrate all 3 groups.
RAH is at least doing something right with their one list approach. If they can pull off that CF of a integration, ASA/Skywest/XJet should be pretty easy.

Because they're an airline under the holding company that owns you and potentially ExpressJet...

You gain a unified pilot group with one voice that will not be whipsawed against each other every time new flying pops up.... but apparently that is not important to you.
