I would make a hefty wager that dual qual will be included in the TA. PNCL Corp needs it enough that they won't agree to a TA unless it's in there.

So brace yourselves now...

A 1.5% increase in 401K match will net us all tens of thousands of dollars more than a uniform match. Don't vote purely on pay. please
And I'll bet the MEC guys will be hard at work getting these added to any TA proposed.

I'm bucking the trend but I see nothing wrong with dual qualification. It will improve bidding results.
Pay would have to be based off of seniority not aircraft. That would clear many of the issues. The planes are simple to fly. I would rather be paid based off my years of service then what bid I was lucky enough to hold.

Dual qual's major attractive feature is an increase in efficiency.

"Increase in efficiency" in this situation means do the same flying with less pilots.

Less pilots = less jobs. Less upgrade. Less newhires. Less seniority movement.

For some, voting yes to a contract that includes dual qual could be voting themselves out of a line (vs reserve), a jet, an upgrade, or a job. These hits could mean much more of a financial and QOL impact than anything you'd gain from other contractual sections. Dual qual isn't just about being trained to fly more than one plane, it affects a lot of things for pilots... mostly negative.

If you do decide to vote in dual-qual, do everyone a favor and at least get it with some sort of "no downgrade, no furlough" clause. Make it expensive for them to hurt you for accepting dual qual.

Dual quality allows us to better compete with skywest and others. It does no good to punch the nose to spite the face. A no furlough clause would be great. I'm sure the union has drawn up comparables for staffing.

Working for free would allow you to better compete too....

Dual qual does nobody good if voting yes for it votes themselves out of a job. Make sure you all know the true financial gain and potential impact it'll have if you vote it in. Its a scary idea, and one that if negotiated for, should come with ENORMOUS gains in other areas.

Don't just give this away.

So you want to help the company out by allowing for dual qual? Then on the other hand you want a no furlough clause? Aren't these two opinions contradictory? I'll be a NO vote for anything with a dual qualification unless we make huge gains in all other areas (which is dubious at best). Let's do away with all healthcare options except for the HRA plan like Skywest to help us better compete, are you for that also? They have it, why shouldn't we?

Dual qual at this joke of an outfit would be a disaster!! There are MANY things that could be bad about this.

Hey, all of our 200 sims are full at the moment, so you're going to do your PC in the 900 Oh we know you've mostly flown the 200, but this is for operational necessity How about reserve rules for this b.s.?? Well we need you to do a turn then an overnight today. Turn is in the 200 and the overnight is in the 900. And what about pay with regard to vacation, sick leave, disability, blah blah blah....?

It is irritating that some people want dual qual because it would make us all more "competitive"!!! Since when should we be helping a company out that would want nothing better than slaves driving their planes for free?!?!?!? I'll tell you all something right now: I don't care what this next TA has in it...if it has dual qual, I'm voting NO!!
