I really don't blame the 9E guys for being P-O'd by this latest insult of it being expedient to get a JCBA vs. getting their own deal done. No one wants the "S" word, but what is going to be left to do for those guys? And, for that matter where does that leave 9L and XJ standing? We are still the cheapest game in town that has a financially viable business, and all this talk of getting a TA done "or less we don't get more airplanes, flying, etc..." is a whole lot of horse dung.
I stand in support of the work that our negotiators have tried to accomplish, but to quote one of our managers in 2006 during the original ALPA drive at 9L, "All that is required is that we negotiate in good faith and it is going to take years to get a contract done". This is the scenario that is playing out before our very eyes. 9L: 3 years...NO contract, 9E: 5 years+ amenable contract, XJ: Concessionary contract. This is why over the years all the airlines that have had even the faintest association with NWA have had terrible labor relations. The "puddle-jumpers" have watched and learned how their "big brothers" at the old mainline dealt with their own miscreant employees. Look at the historical record, what is happening is nothing new.
In spite of my support, I am pretty disgusted with the whole bloody thing at this point and only my slavish devotion to professionalism and my fellow crewmembers keeps me going and positive.
Here's the difference in my outlook, and I've said before, if I worked for 9E I would feel exactly the same as they do.

Most pilots at 9E have convinced themselves that this management will never give them a contract, and the only way to achieve the goal is to be released by the NMB and have either the threat of strike or a strike.

That may have been true in the past but I don't believe it anymore.

I believe the timelines were very aggressive and they are getting as much done in the time allotted as possible and need the extensions to finish up. I feel our guys on the negotiating committee are being smart and not letting these pressure deadlines allow them to make any mistakes.

But if it has to come to a strike as 9E believes, I'm more than willing to do my part to help.

It was mentioned in an earlier post by someone but I'll throw it out there too, I don't understand why all the guys on here will basterdize the company for not getting things done in 45 days and then get livid that it wasn't done in an additional 3 days, yet complain like mad when those origional numbers were thrown out saying how it was never going to be done in such a small time frame. Had they initially came out with a february or march date, most of you would have probably been ok with that, thinking that it was realistic. I swear you guys just want to complain.

Seriously ... Monday? Why not tonight? The union should have had a plan in place that if things didn't get finished there would be a conference tonight!!!

Higney, look, let's be honest. You are the Pinnacle Pilots only hope. You have good vision, good direction and integrity. We'd all be better off in you were in charge. And it's obvious that all of your ideas you put forward are being blocked by SE. It's sad. SE has become so lazy and detached that he actually works against us now. It's time YOU took over.

If we go back into our own section 6 negotiations, I want our MEC to push HARD for release from the nmb. I'm sick of this crap.

As an outsider looking in, I'm astonished. You guys need to set a hard deadline and stick to it. If it doesn't get done by the deadline, take action. Immediate action.

Even if everyone at the negotiating table is talking about great progress. Even if you are one item away from a TA. If you don't have it by the deadline, you don't have it by the deadline. Take action against your MEC, your company, etc. Take it into the pilot groups' hands that there will be no more games.

You really can't compare what you did for 5 years to what is going on now. I feel for you guys for all you went through and it truely stinks that this merger is taking place now, but it's a completely new element. And the basis of what I said before is undeniable. You guys all complained about the 45 day time line and again about the 2.5 day addition. Yet when it didnt work you are unwilling to accept that it didn't work. What if they would have said February was the deadline from the start? Think about how you would feel as of December 3rd under that situation. Hardly anyone would even be talking about the negotiation right now.

PapaMike= P M = Pinnacle Management?

We wouldn't have agreed to a joint contract if they would have said February. The only reason we are even negotiating this deal is because of the 45 day timeline that came about when we were about to start picketing.
