Not sure if you guys have access to the employee section, but under training, they've posted the first 3 classes and sim schedule for January/February 2011...

Well that might be a sign that it's for reals this time.... I guess they're being super cereal this time!

osuav8r 12-17-2010 09:41 PM

I hope all of you one day get to experience the sheer joy of handing in your resignation letter to those A holes in the knowledge that you're leaving for a better job :D

mark5467 12-18-2010 05:30 PM

I do have a few questions for the guys coming back though.
1. How long have most of you been out of TSA?
2. Have you guys/gals had flying jobs since you left?

1) 2 1/2 years
2) Negitive

JayHub 12-20-2010 12:57 PM

Fur eels.

Is there going to be a class on the 3rd... or does the first actual class begin on the 10th?

Positive_Rate 12-20-2010 05:14 PM

No class posted for the 3rd...looks like the first one starts 1/10 @ 8am at the school house.

Or being repeatedly re-routed to cover the massive staffing shortages.

minimwage4 12-20-2010 10:21 PM

There are some good oral/study guides on the tsalounge forum.

I think there are still a bunch of people that haven't gotten class dates yet for Feb and March. There are still about 22 left that accepted.

Anyone have NL'S email address?

CaptainCarl 12-28-2010 01:45 PM

Anyone know if HQ is still running that shuttle to/from the airport, just outside where the mailboxes used to be (maybe still are)? Does it run on the hour every hour? Just trying to plan for the one day whiz quiz and all that jazz.

They do not... unless they recently started back up

Copperhed51 12-28-2010 04:16 PM

So, I have heard through the grapevine that mandatory recalls will begin going out tomorrow. As with all rumors, don't take it too seriously.

yea. they're about 10 or 14 short of the required numbers.

Time2Fly 12-31-2010 08:05 PM

So I hear they are giving out Feb classes now...

Where is everyone staying for training? The good ol' pear tree or does the hilton have a good rate for those not based outside of STL??

AZ wildcat 12-31-2010 11:17 PM

The Pear Tree quoted me $66 ish per night when I called about a month ago. Hope there are better options than that for you. Though that isn't a bad price for a hotel nowadays, that would add up in a hurry.

They aren't putting you guys up in a hotel on their dime ?!

Hulie....you f*&^!!!

gary0724 01-01-2011 07:54 AM

I thought everybody that was furloughed was based in IAD? Everybody through the jan 30th class will be put up in either the Hilton or the Hilton garden inn. I am in the first class and they are providing shelter at the hilton. They also just sent me the GOM, SOP, and a AFM.
If thier is anybody else in the first class I am really hopping we can start a study group, I could really use it!!

Guys furloughed on July 1 and Aug 30 2008 were STL based when the AX came down.

I thought the GOM and SOP were SSI and couldn't be shared without passing the background check. If they're giving those out they might as well give your ID back and you can just jumpseat out to STL for the fingerprint day.

Would be cool.....that would save me a week in a hotel and postpone my 2100 mile drive.

Not that I don't like the drive.....it just sucks a little more in the winter time.

DryMotorBoatin 01-01-2011 09:17 AM

who sent you the SOPS and GOM...id love to get my hands on those before rollin into class not knowin a thing. i guess NL would be the person to call?

If you were based in IAD or RIC when you got furloughed they will put you up and fly you to STL for fingerprints and then for class. By the time all STL furloughs get a class date I think enough of us will be in STL that you can ask about a crash pad so don't pay the $66 for a regular hotel.

145mule 01-03-2011 10:15 AM

Here is my question. For those that were furloughed before the opening of the IAD base, and were STL based at the time of their furlough... Where do you think those guys/gals will be based after upon returning?

I have asked around, and 2 people in management told me not to be surprised if we stay STL based. I hope they are right, but I have a feeling we are going to IAD.

Positive_Rate 01-03-2011 10:47 AM

With RIC closing end of Jan, and the 3 planes coming for Airways in March, I wouldn't be surprised if STL is the bigger domicile.

Dunno but I honestly hope I can bid/get IAD...it would be a MUCH better commute!

there are literally an infinite number of things that can follow TSA mgmt sayin..."Don't be surprised if..." all of which are believable regardless of absurdity

P56C 01-03-2011 05:21 PM

I found one of those USPS slips at my door today. It says it's a certified letter from TSA, so I'm guessing this is a mandatory recall?

More than likely.

What was your DOH?

With the closure of RIC the fact that most guys in IAD now have a better set up (local apt, easier commute, etc) at IAD compared to STL and the fact that STL will get the Airways flying I would say that STL will be the "junior" FO base... Until the Airways GSO base opens...

Crap, yeah what was your DOH? I am hoping to not have to make this decision so soon. Maybe they won't get to me but I am pretty sure they will unfortunately. Grrrrrr.

Of course, it could actually just be the recall cancellation just like last time....

Salukipilot4590 01-03-2011 09:58 PM

Wasn't today (err yesterday depending on where you live in this crazy country) the first day of the first class....err paperwork party?

Anyone in there?

Deets?

DOH is March 08. I was hoping to not have to make this decision so soon either. I will pick up the letter tomorrow...so we'll see what's going on.
