All things considering, it's pretty surprising they couldn't fill all the slots with a voluntary. It will be interesting to see how many decline the mandatory.

Just getting home from the paper party ... Aside from fingerprinting, pretty useless. Turned in all the paperwork and caught an early flight home. Outta there by 12:00.

I doubt anyone below the 'top 14' that deferred will get the mandatory,.... initially....and then for every subsequent resignation, they'll send out another mandatory letter......but who knows how they're doing it.

Side note: Are there still EPs on property? With the Airways stuff coming, i remember that all that lift was done on the EP in the past.....

The only EP's no longer on property are 826 & 827, if my memory serves me correctly. Besides those two works of art, the rest are still here doing their best to bottleneck the O'Hare departure/arrival corridors.

Yes. All of them are. Some of the swiss birds were pulled off line and will be starting the Airways stuff in the spring.

my understanding is...we got 3 days of class and then an oral. so im focusing on everything. got the systems book out tonite. memory items and limitation flashcards are out of the closet. GOM and SOP are getting mailed to us.

Yes, only one slightly. Same amount as before. Well, I counted 27 on my old sheet and in the new SOP... so, maybe one of us miscounted :confused:

Well, just to fill some people in on some info I got today, it sounds like 39 out of 131 people accepted the voluntary and the mandatory recalls have started being sent out. They are just sending out a few (didn't get a specific number) and when those come back, they will send out more until they get everybody back that they need. It'll be interesting to see how many take the mandatory. I am still hopeful that it will take a little while for me to get mine and I'll have a better idea of the upgrade picture at my current gig. As it stands right now, I'm about 15 people away from upgrade so depending on attrition, I could be in the left seat in a few months. Hmmmmm....

That's a tough choice. If you jump ship and come back to Trans States, you might be sitting in the right seat for upwards of 3 or 4 years. However, if you stay where you are at, you will definitely get into the left seat much quicker and since TPIC is the name of the game, you might want to seriously consider staying put.

Other things to consider are QOL, pay, where you're gonna be based, etc.

Also, remember the NMB might make it's decision on the direction of our negotiations just as we get back, so there's no telling how that's going to end up.

I'm ready for the oral now to be honest...the only thing that's really tough is the sim.

Seeing as though I haven't touched the airplane in 28 months it's going to be a bit tough to get back to how badass I was back in 2008.

I'd be worried I won't remember how to work the autopilot and will just hand fly the whole thing on green needles. I'm pretty sure the oral wouldn't be too terrible after I review my thousands of flashcards.

Just another thing to think about. In 2003/4 time frame there was one airline (I don't remember if it was JB, SWA, or Airtran) that only counted turbine PIC time if you got it in a plane with a Max TO weight of over 20,000. Obviously the 1900's 17,120 (no idea how the hell that number is stuck in my head after over 7 years away from a 1900) wouldnt count. I remember thinking it was BS that my 1900 time wouldn't count since flying the 1900 is way harder than flying anything on AP.

Anyways thats another one of the reasons I left my 1900 job...although not like my 145 PIC time is doing me any good at the moment :(

That was JB. And it was just one airline. I would not turn down an upgrade at a regional to go back as an FO at another place. Plus all that seniority you worked for would be wasted. I would imagine you're going to feel very bummed a few months into ready reserve when you hear your buddies at the other place have already upgraded.

Yeah I couldn't remember which one it was. I didn't really pay attention because at that time I didn't have any turbine PIC time so it didn't matter. Like I said it was just one of the many reasons I decided to make the move I did years ago.

I was just passing on some info/advice to help in the decision making process. Copperhed is the only one that knows his/her exact situation and what would be best (maybe JB is their dream job) I just wanted to point out that airlines have in the past put weight limits on acceptable PIC time and that the airlines will be able to be super selective in the front end of the hiring wave and weight limits may be put in place again.

So I finally got a chance to pick up my certified letter today and it is a mandatory recall. So, for the guys that are in class right now...can you please give us some info on training? Is it really only 3 days of class and 4 Sim sessions? Are there any written exams, or is is just oral + checkride?

Yeah, it's three days of ground school, a couple days break in the middle, and then four sim sessions. One each day and then a checkride on the fifth day. As for the written exams, oral and checkride... I don't know. I've heard the oral and checkride will be on the same day. The guys in class today should know by the end of the day if there's a written...
