It continues to amaze me the amount of siht people are willing to go through to fly airplanes. Junior man's, having to "check out", airport ready for more than 4 hours, less than 12 days off a month, not to mention pay.....this industry makes me sick almost as much as the people who are willing to put up with this crap.
What do you do for a living?

All the more reason they have pressure to get this deal done...on our conference call today it sounds like Delta and United/COA are putting tremendous pressure on 9E to get staffing right or they would pull flying... they mentioned that within the last 6 months we've had 26 junior mans at XJ, and Colgan had 124 junior mans in the month of July alone...ball is in their court, let's see what play they call...

no offense, but I've been hearing that argument about staffing at Pinnacle since the furloughs of 9/11......and guess what? we never hire, and we usually get even more flying handed to us by the major parent. DL/NWA/UAL couldn't give a flying you know what about the quality of life/jr mannings/extensions....because the planes are STILL departing. And on time at that. A few waves of cancelled for no crew but not enough to set off an alarm in either 9e management or DL/NWA, since they can usually in a round about way blame it on the weather.

the title of this thread really should be " pinnacle pilots are desperate for pilots". Mismanglement wants a skeleton crew at all costs. In an ideal world, we would hire to relieve the fo's on rsv and with the 10 day off lines for the last 2 years. the displaced captains would be reinstated to relieve the reserve captains and those whose toes get stepped on by that would just **** and wait till their unqualified behinds number comes up. never gunna happen, but would be nice.

I fly airplanes for a company with a contract that doesn't require us to do any of this crap. We don't have to check-in or sit airport standby for more than 4 hours (and we get paid for 4 hours), our min days off is 12, and our pay while isn't the best, its enough to actually have a life. As a 3rd year FO I made 50K. Not great but certainly not what some of these other companies pay. Not trying to toot our company's horn, just saying that going to the first place you can get on isn't always the right thing to do. I have many friends who went other places who can barely afford their one bedroom apartment with 2 roommates. At least I was able to buy a house, get married, start a family, ect. Will it take me a few more years to get to a major? Probably, but I certainly won't be single living in a one bedroom apartment with 4 roommates on welfare with 8 days off while on my way to getting there. Plus if I can do day trips and 2 days and make 50K as an FO, I'm fine spending a few more years here enjoying my family.

Who cares, I did the exact same thing. We bought our house last year. Have 2 small kids, and not have finance issues. I did all of this while working at Pinnacle. With 18-20 days off and picking if I want to work 75 hrs or 90 hrs in one month, not have to worry if I'm going to miss B-day or Holidays. You make is sound like we can't get that as a Pinnacle FO.
