I fly airplanes for a company with a contract that doesn't require us to do any of this crap. We don't have to check-in or sit airport standby for more than 4 hours (and we get paid for 4 hours), our min days off is 12, and our pay while isn't the best, its enough to actually have a life. As a 3rd year FO I made 50K. Not great but certainly not what some of these other companies pay. Not trying to toot our company's horn, just saying that going to the first place you can get on isn't always the right thing to do. I have many friends who went other places who can barely afford their one bedroom apartment with 2 roommates. At least I was able to buy a house, get married, start a family, ect. Will it take me a few more years to get to a major? Probably, but I certainly won't be single living in a one bedroom apartment with 4 roommates on welfare with 8 days off while on my way to getting there. Plus if I can do day trips and 2 days and make 50K as an FO, I'm fine spending a few more years here enjoying my family.

lol w/e bro, not too concerned about what APC thinks of my company. If it weren't for our vacation rules I wouldn't have these 26 days off to spend on stupid internet forums. Sorry for the trouble!
btw AirSupport, congrats on your 2200th post on APC Mr. Pinnacle Captain! Someday we here at XJT/ASA hope to achieve a contract and payscale that comes at least close to yours there at Pinnacle!

Thanks for the well wishes! We hope we can all work our three airlines together and get a contract that wont require furloughs, red days, or whatever else is happing to some of the regionals out there.
lol I know. The way he was talking in his post before that I thought he was working for a private company or some real nice charter outfit. Then I see his other post about him being at asa/xjet and it just gave me a little chuckle. Not a big one, just a little one.

You guys are absolutly right, sorry for letting emotions get the better of me. I know we are all working toward the same goal. Hopefully we can all better our contracts and get this industry back to where it needs to be. Again I apologize. Fly safe!

Glad you got that cleared up because for a minute there it really looked like you took great pride in tooting your own horn at the expense of others here. Good to hear it was just your emotions making you think you were better than everyone else.

Never thought I was better than anyone, I still stand behind the fact that every pilot that goes to places like Colgan to work are further contributing to the downfall of this industry. You can flame me all day long on that one folks. Accepting 18K per year to fly a 76 seat aircraft is absolutly ridiculous.

Junior manning is 'overtime' to cover unnassigned flying, either voluntary or forced, depending on whether you answer the phone when they call you. It is paid a premium (usually 1.5x). It is based on the seniority system. Most senior eligible is offered the trip (if they make contact with you) and then they work down the list. If no one voluntarily takes the trip by the time they get to the bottom, then they work back up the list. The most 'junior man' that they are able to contact is assigned the trip.
Some people love it, some hate it. If you don't want to work it, don't allow them to contact you.
