Pinnacle desperate for pilots...

As I've said, getting to a major isn't everything. Its pathetic how guys are willing to sell themselves just to get to a major that much sooner. I'd rather be at a regional for 10 years making a good salary and start my life instead of putting everything on hold until I get to a major. Is your job at a major airline gonna be there to wipe your a s s when you're 80? Its all about family people, not this stupid career. Having the goal to get to a major is a great one to have, but not at the expense of yourself and your family. Its pretty damn selfish to put your family through a job at the Colgan's of the industry. To each his own, but this career is becoming less and less worth it every day. I truly love what I do, but its watching people give their lives for this stupid job that is going to make me quit in the end, not the job itself.

Yep, it is all about family... the family I chose to support and be with when I'm sittin with a great schedule making decent money while I'm at a major at the back end of my career making double what I would have made at a regional.

That's how it's looking for the many of the guys at Comair, the "great pay great QOL" regional if you had asked 8 years ago...

So what do you expect? Reasoning? Rational thinking? Pride? Sorry, it doesn't mean a thing in the airline industry - only your date of hire.
As people say, "don't hate the playa, hate the game."

It's not pathetic. It's playing the system... your entire existence is dependent on one thing and one thing alone - your date of hire... nothing else. Absolutely NOTHING ELSE! Your type ratings, your experience, your time in this industry, your accolades, NOTHING... just your date of hire. Those other things are just means to get that one thing - date of hire on the seniority list.

My contribution to this thread. Take it or leave it. (If you could care less about working for Southwest then please keep the flames to yourself.) If you are starting out in this business and want to fly for Southwest some day . . . . . here is something to think about.
I don't have the break down of the entire current pilot pool at SWA - 170+ pilots. Here is a breakdown of the partial list I do have. It may or may not be safe to assume that it is representative of the entire list. Of the SWA poolies that made it past the 2nd Decision Board last month and will likely start training in Jan/Feb/Mar of 2011:
Pilots and where they work:
TV Shows "The Bachelor/Dancing With The Stars" - 0
Pinnacle - 1
Colgan - 1
Greak Lakes - 1
Air Wisconsin - 1
Horizon - 1
Shuttle America -2
Chautauqua -2
Allegiant - 3
ExpressJet - 4
Mesa - 5
JetBlue - 5
Skywest - 8
Mainline Delta/Continental/United/American/Omni/ATA/747/Corporate - 15
Navy/Air Force/Marines - 74
If anybody reading this has any additional information on pilots from specific regionals please feel free to chime in. Again this is only a partial list.
