PNCL Picketing in MEM .....FINALLY!!!
#31
Sorry guys, XJ MEC has asked that all Mesaba pilots refrain from informational picketing deeming it counterproductive at this time.
As soon as I get the green light I'm there with you though.
And always with you in spirit.
Good luck!

I know it'll bite me for saying it but that was HORRIBLE politics. We had a great chance to get 9E and XJ guys together and work through the negative stereotypes that some had and this just torpedoed that chance. The company works on "divide and conquer", XJ just walked into their playbook. Learn from the past folks. Going forward requires a new strategy because the old one didn't work.

While I agree with them that this is not the time while talks are still progressing forward, I was willing to show my support for the 9E pilot group.

The XJ strategy has worked. It is proven. Look at our 2006 and bankruptcy agreements. Then compare that to what you are working under. Why wouldn't I trust the XJ MEC? We all just got 4% raises to make the current pay gap even larger than it was before.
I really don't think that because you are ****ed off, you need to picket. It has taken you guys how many years of negotiating and what do you have to show for it. Some agreements that are as good as the management mouths that they came out of. Maybe the 9E MEC needs a little lesson on this stuff as following their past tactics might not be the best. No one wants to negotiate for another 6 years so I will continue to back my MEC (XJ) becuase I have much more confidence in them.

This is the JNC message sent early this morning, so we have some context here:
Negotiations for the Joint Collective Bargaining Agreement continue this week in Washington, D.C., and have yielded positive results. During the first ten hours of bargaining, we reached a Tentative Agreement (TA) on Sections 11 (Training & Testing) and 24 (Filling of Vacancies), and continued progress on Sections 25 (Scheduling) and 27 (Insurance Benefits). We believe a TA on the JCBA is within reach by the end of the week.
As some of you may have heard, the Pinnacle MEC is planning a number of informational picketing events commencing on Friday, December 10 in Memphis, TN. We have typically found informational picketing to be very successful when we have reached an impasse during bargaining. However, considering the progress at the bargaining table this week, we believe it will be counter-productive to engage in picketing at this time. While we respect the Pinnacle MEC’s point of view, we are asking all Mesaba pilots to refrain from participating at these events. We need to remain focused on our goal of One Contract for One Seniority List.
All that being said... If we were at an impasse in the JCBA talks, then let's picket. But if we are truly in this together, for a JCBA, we should be supporting our JNC in their hard work at getting this done. Picketing will undermine the progress made, especially the progress made this week. It will also undermine the "unity" we apparently had. If this picketing sends any message, it's a message to Colgan and Mesaba pilots that 9E wants to do it's own thing and have abandoned hopes on a JCBA. We get it, you've been amendable for far too long. But these aren't your section 6 talks! These are talks for a JCBA. We're all far better off with a JCBA than if we were to each take a separate road. So we should be supporting the efforts by the JNC. When talks have truly failed... then, the gloves come off.

Why should we cancel the picketing because we're "making progress?" We've been "making progress" for the past 6 years, it just hasn't quite made it to the right point. Talk to me when Sections 25, 27 and 3 are done. Those are the ones management's been dragging their feet on for over a year with us. Curiously, they're still open on the JCBA.....
