200 are going to flow from Eagle to AA in the first half of this year. A total of over 1300 Eagle guys will be getting either direct flow, or preferential hiring depending where they are on the list. That's HALF of the Eagle pilot group.... which means that anybody getting hired there today will be getting their upgrade in under 4-5 years.... which is almost unheard of right now in this industry for a national air carrier.
are you talking about Eagle being divested sold or spun off ? Then apparently you don't know the history of AA and AMR very well. For the last 20 years when any pilot contract was being negotiated, Eagle was for sale, or going to be spun off... nothing new here, expect for the newbies who actually believe them.
I'd suggest he take Skywest, but only for the before mentioned reason of not having to commute. Absent that, Eagle currently would be the place to be for a newbie...

Commute to a 4 day or do locals and two days living in domicile. What about sitting reserve? In a craspad or at home? Are the 4 days commutable on both ends? Will they be with the new work rules? The pay is going to suck regardless, find the best QOL.
I only commuted for a while, but didn't find it very enjoyable. Usually had to go the day before, or come home the day after. There were often flights I couldn't make it on because they were full. That meant a minimum of 4 nights away from home a week. When I was a newhire on the EMB out of PSP, I held locals and was home every night. Living in domicile 10 out of nearly 11 years here, has allowed me to do locals, two days and stand-ups for 7-8 of those years. Commuters, typically do nothing but 4 days.
If you were willing to move to Chicago, it would be different. Eagle or SkyWest, it doesn't really matter. Arguing about which one is best is like arguing about who has the nicest trailor at the trailor park. Figure out which one will get you PIC time the fastest, so you can get hired at a Legacy as soon as the retirements kick in. Eagle use to take forever, it may not stay that way. SkyWest use to be pretty quick, but that hasn't been the case lately.

It was said before, but I wanted to say it again. Definitely go with SKYW for the fact that you will not have to commute. After having to commute at my previous employer and now living within domicile of my current, there is no comparison. You (and your other half) will be happier not having to commute.

Unless they close your domicile on you, and then increase the flying there!

[QUOTE=atrdriver;918141]Anyone with a shred of sense would avoid EGL like the plague with what's going on right now. Skywest hands down. Congrats[/QUOTE
Sounds like I need to go get a crystall ball or a magic eight ball so I know what's going to happen. Not sure what is going on here right now to avoid EGL?
