What type of super secret info would you be talking about? Unlike you I don't just make off the cuff statements...I researched it, and they only saved a small amount on facilities rent, that is much less than the extra costs they're incurring from the nightly lodging costs and per diem. The employee parking is a draw since the costs for crew parking where employees were forced to transfer is the same or more. Apparently you, and your families lives weren't disrupted and uprooted by multiple base closures. They were done without much, if any, consideration for the employees that helped build this company. Or maybe you're to young and or junior to have a family and children?
From your snotty uncaring response, I'm assuming you closely related to Chip-away! You should look into the justification for closing a crew base in one of the largest cities in the country with lots of flying being added, while they keep the headquarters open in a small town in the middle of nowhere.
Seems a little backwards...
Did you think the 1% raise was a good deal too, especially when compared to what Chip's was?

One is a capital expense, the other a business operating expense.... one gets a complete tax write off, the other may qualify for some depreciation over time, but not much in comparison...

Thanks, I understand that....however I believe the "employer of choice" should also consider employee goodwill a tangible cost too? Even if the base closure is considered cost neutral due to tax consequences, the "employer of choice" should choose to make the right choice and not disrupt lives if not absolutely necessary!

Unless you plan on staying on the EMB-120 for a long time, juniority at SKW = IAH, ORD, MKE. Skywest is not quite as west as it used to be.
If the EMB does go away, they would almost have to replace it with something, probably Q-400's.
I assume you live near FAT? That's the only base you could really plan on as a new hire.

I hope to trasfer off the EMB-120 after the first year. I do live near FAT, and going to IAH, ORD, or MKE is fine eventually. Just would like to save money and avoid the commute for at least the first year to save as much money as i can.
