I'm hoping for the new uniform. My blazer is on it's last leg and if I can get the company to buy me a new one, winning!

can anyone speculate on the upgrade times at EWR compared to IAH on the Q? I've herad that IAH is senior and would probably take a lot longer.

Where your based has no bearing on upgrade. System wide seniority is what matters. If I had to guess, I would estimate 3-5 years if all the aviation stars are aligned just right!

This is probably a pretty good estimate. Assuming you take the first available upgrade regardless of equipment or base.

weird when I asked the CA during my interview, he said it would depend on domicile. he said it could be as low as 12-18 months at the most junior bases, or as high as 2-3 years at the most senior bases, but of course it was all speculative. 3-5 years seems high to me for this company, are you basing this on the new SLI?

SLI will definitely affect the 18 month upgrade. The best thing a new hire can hope for is possible mass hiring opening up at the major level. This will create real movement not dependent on Pinnacle/Mesaba finding new contracts.

What? According to our DO color of uniforms is on the lower end of things to be addressed. Either way the company will have to supply the blazer and one pair of pants. Personally, I think the black and gold looks much sharper.

Got the call this afternoon with the firm offer. I told them I needed to think about it and they gave me until Monday. I think I'm probably headed to Memphis on the 11th...

Sounds a lot like what I was told when I was hired at Mesaba...(15 -900s, fast upgrades, yada yada). They're trying to sell the position to you, they want to paint a pretty picture because chances are if they'll hire you so will everyone else.

As far as upgrade being based on domicile that's not quite how it works... For example, the most senior FO at EWR may not be able to hold a line at IAH (just an illustration, no idea on how senior each base is). The bottom line is seniority has everything to do with while domicile has nothing. The 3-5 year upgrade figure would be nice, but that could also mean one year and furloughed because none of us have any clue what the brainiacs in the front office are dreaming up.

Take it with a grain of salt and hope for the best, plan for the worst. My .02, I wouldn't have left my current gig and jumped back on board if I didn't think things were looking good. You'll either learn to be flexible with this industry, or you'll leave it for "greener" pastures.
