ASA PBS Awards..........

Well, you don't have a problem with me personally...but many guys on this very forum will speak to my character and standing by what I say. For the record, I can be kicked back to reserve pretty easy - and I'll certainly be back on reserve for an unknown amount of time when I do upgrade, so...anyway. My issue with the bid schedule is not just a Lineholder issue, as you took it - but also as a Reserve pilot issue. Which, you clearly missed.
One last time...I made a suggestion, and it is now quite clear to me that you'd rather not reach out and get the information you so much desire - and deserve. I know it's 10:24 in the evening here in Atlanta, but I'm enjoying an Amstel Light and trying to do my best to offer up one portion of a solution that may give you a better understanding for what has happened - could happen again - and what steps will be taken in the future. But yet, as I said, it appears you won't quite do either of them.
I hope one day when you need something, or you have a question about scheduling screwing you, you won't be as passive to not pick up the phone and notify a representative of your issues, or to ask them that question.
Best of luck. Hope you find some small ray of sunshine over the next month, somewhere...

I really don't know what to make of your comments. Ray of sunshine... somewhere? I really bit my tongue here... your comments (this ray of sunshine) and the rest of your post are quite condescending and as arrogant as my retort.
Enjoy the Amstel.

The difference between ducks and eagles. Ducks waddle around in duck poop all day quacking and griping while eagles soar above all that crap. If you hate your job and yet refuse to change it, the only sensible solution is to attempt to love your job.
There are always going to be those that think the world will never change and that same world revolves around them. What you think about, you bring about. Bring about something good -- and good luck!

I would also suggest try calling, however a friend of mine got screwed with his bid, the pairings changed after he tagged some, and the union has yet to get back to him. Sorry about the reserve, it sucks royally.

Call it apathy if you'd like but I shouldn't have to seek out a rep to explain to me what the company is trying to do. We have 1700ish pilots and as with ANY organization communication is king. The union actually sent out a lengthy and much appreciated explanation of why the awards were published late again. I was impressed with their stance on unstacking and refusal to accept many of the company's BS proposals. However this type of communication should not be an exception but rather the norm. This goes for the union AND the company. The company consistently short staffs us, our numbers are in the cellar, and yet the company remains silent on the issue. Communication goes a long way to comfort the employees that are working so hard to keep this company upright. I'm so sick and tired of nobody in this company communicating. MX, scheduling, and flight control are in the same room and they can't even talk to eachother.
If I have a specific issue about my schedule then yes I will contact a rep. But with regard to the entire company and the awarded schedules the union should communicate to US. Wouldn't it be easier and more efficient to communicate to all pilots at once rather than explain the same thing 1700 times to each pilot?

If you have a question...about God knows what subject matter, I'm simply reminding folks that there are elected representatives and volunteers who will be more than happy to actually get a phone call from a pro-active pilot rather than a reactive pilot.
Communications are being worked on heavily right now, but it is a two-way street. Information and data need to come in regarding issues. If your reps don't know what is wrong, they'll never know because they're not mind readers. Which was my point to squaretail, be it the awards for June or anything else...at some point, someone, somewhere down the line, has to pick up that phone or type up an e-mail. Hopefully the P2P program will help funnel more information back through the LECs in IAD and ATL, and even directly to the MEC or Committee Chairman. But that's only ONE tool available to the pilot group. Coupled with normal communication avenues (phone, e-mail), and recently released social media avenues - I can't quite see how someone can not have their problems or issues heard by one of their status reps - if they'd like. Certainly know enough folks just like talking and would rather not get any sort of enlightenment on a subject area.
(for the record, I'm agreeing with you...)
That said, I'm waiting for the information to come back as far as why opentime seems so much, and yet there is an increase of people on reserve in most seats. That's all I can do. No sense doing any sort of fire-breathing just for entertainment's sake
