Things are moving at a trickle now without much hiring to speak of. If you are here you see how short staffed we are across the board. I really do expect to see another substantial upgrade as soon as the IMSL is in place. (So end of the summer). That, combined with the new duty rules coming into play in the next 12-24 months alone will result in an upgrade for roughly 150-200 of our guys almost immediately, not to mention the staffing increases required at mainline that will pull a few away. I consider myself I fairly plugged in person. The facts are we're short handed on every seat. We need more captains. So more upgrades will happen when they can afford to take FO's offline again. I stand by my 2-3 years for everyone who is here right near the bottom now barring bankruptcy, buy out or loss of a code share.

Just remember that Tsunami's start at the bottom first.
I really hope that your numbers are right. However, I think that you & I both learned a valuable lesson from being employed by RAH the past few years. The lesson is this: Don't pick en employer based on projected movement. No one has a crystal ball in this industry, even the executives. Pick an airline based on work rules & compensation. That way when you're stuck at the bottom and commuting to reserve, you don't feel like slashing your wrists with a dull plastic butter knife you borrowed from a Flight Attendant. RAH is a terrible place, and I wish I would've listened to some wiser and older friends. I made my decision in late 07 based on projected movement. I've been paying for that shortsightedness ever since.

How can you blame yourself for that. There are always some facts that you can base your decision on but mostly speculation. So if you were trying to get on w/a company right now with great work rules, pay etc., you get hired and 3 months in they take huge concessions to save their asses. Do you credit yourself with that? What gives?

Regionals don't really give up concessions, as there isn't much to give up.

You want the facts, here they are:

airline_pilot_pay-beyond_the_no's

APC_airlines

All I'm trying to say, is that basing your choice on projected upgrades is short-sighted. Ask yourself if you can really survive long term on topped out pay & junior reserve.

Well, agree there isn't much to give up, but.......

ACA (I took that one)
AWAC
MESABA
COMAIR
XJT (I took that one too)

.....took concessions. I may have left some out.

Yeah but XJT concessionary contract is still far better than RAH.

Yep, those slipped my mind. Luked pointed out that XJT still has a better concessionary contract than RAH. I'm pretty sure all those places (except ACA, not in business) have better concessionary contracts than the RAH non- concessionary CBA. RAH is a bad place to work. Stay away!!!

Well, true. And the dead horse can be beaten all day long on revisionist history. But at the time, and the circumstances that the RAH CBA was done, they were pretty lucky to get what they got with the tactics that the revered was using against them.

But yes, ACA's (irrelevant) concessionary and XJT's concessionary are better than RAH's. The ONLY concession that XJT took was in the form of and hourly rate. However, we've had so many LOA's/MOU's come out since the 08 concession that there's been a gain in work rules overall.

Have a little faith that your union, now with the SLI, NMB stuff behind them, can now fully focus on getting the contract done, and then amalgamated with F9. It's coming, from what few leaks we've gotten it seems we're much more prepared than the company has been so far in mediation. Those more experienced than you would tell you to stay put because there's more uncertainty going to the bottom somewhere else. There will be movement at RAH in the next 12-36 months.

I'd sure love for someone up there to call me back about any upcoming training class dates. All I was ever told was "in August". You can't plan anything around that.

You are the one who had a training date with XJT and decided to wait for RAH right? Rule number one, seniority is everything you should have taken XJT training class. Now you just better pray there will be at RAH class in Aug. One thing I learned in my airline career is to take the guaranteed offer and never look back. Shoulda woulda will make you go crazy.
