It's a $4/hr cut, more if you count the dollar raise we get in December, and the longevity in April. And yeah, if I were to make the jump it would be solely based on domicile. Right now Chicago looks tempting, but my girlfriend is on the cusp of getting a job out in LA this fall, so it'd be nice to not commute, though LA I'm sure goes rather senior. The problem I can see running into is, at least until if we ever get more, a majority of Q vacancies coming internally and the new hires going into the Saab and CRJ, as has happened since we started. So sure, I'm gaining overall seniority, but it doesn't do me any good if I'm not gaining seniority in my base or seat. I've got 150ish pilots below me after 5 months, 4 of which are on the Q. I figure MSP would be mighty tempting to you, no? Probably easy to hold as well.

I think MSP is currently the most junior RJ FO base. MSP, DEN, IAH, COS, and ORD are all possible right out of training.

DEN base

-Maybe out of training, but if not, worst case scenario how long for an FO

-FO line holder time?

-Captain line holder/reserve time?

Jump seating with Southwest yesterday (i recommend that to anyone. Just bring candies and snacks for the crew and dress professional) one of the senior captains said get your PIC time and come over. They love hiring SKW guys, due to extensive and quality training they receive.

I have an interview with SkyWest on Weds. I have never flown for any airline--just retired from 21 years of flying for the Air Force (KC-135s, C-130s, and a 737 type rating from HPA). My ultimate goal is to catch the "major wave" next year, but I'm thinking this will be good to keep me current. Your remark about how this might look on my resume has me mildly concerned, but I still think SWA would much rather hire me after flying for SkyWest for a year, rather than sitting on my a$$. Thoughts??

At least half the pilots at SKW made a lateral move to get there. They prefer 121 experience, then 135, with CFI's last. They like military too.

They hire plenty of military, but somehow they sniff out the guys who want to stick around or at least that's what I've noticed. If they figure out you want to leave within a year they won't bother...interview carefully.

Just a reminder, the faculty and the recruiting department continuously monitor these boards. They have acknowledged that in the class.

I have a couple questions I hope that can be answered. I apologize in advanced if these are answered before. I apparantly can't find them with my patience levels.

1) What is the average time right now from application to interview if you have 2000TT and 100hrs multi, and meet all the other qualifications.

2) After the interview, how long does it take to be notified of an acceptance or rejection.

3) And if you are successful in the interview, how much time does it take to be invited to a class, and how much notice do they give you.

Thanks for any and all replies.

When I surpassed 100 hours multi, I updated my airlineapps application and I received a phone call the very next day from HR wanting to verify my flight times (including instrument time). They called back a few days later on June 14th wanting to schedule an interview. I can't remember what date choices they gave me, but I ended up interviewing on July 6th. After I interviewed, I received an email offering me the job literally 30 minutes later on the van ride back to airport (I was the last one of the group to finish that day). They offered me a CRJ July 25th class or a CRJ August 29th class, and I took the August 29th. I remember at the interview, they said that they really try their hardest to give you more than 2 weeks notice so you can notify your current employer.

Hope this information helps! Good luck!
