GoJets Hiring

GoJet was non-union when the pilots hit the line, and they remained that way for a long time. They only became Teamsters very recently - and that's because management voted for the union. Oddly enough, I thought the purpose of a union was to protect the employees from management...

" But just what is a scab? Clarence Darrow explained it succinctly when he wrote that a scab “is a man who goes in to take the place of his fellow man who is working for better conditions.” Scabs, he added, have “always been ready to take the benefits that flow from organized labor and never been willing to fight to obtain them”—a parasitism that prompted Eugene Debs to observe, “A scab in labor unions is the same as a traitor to his country.”
But the unrivaled master at defining a scab was Jack London, a portion of whose classic description is excerpted here:
“After God had finished the rattlesnake, the toad and the vampire, He had some awful stuff left with which he made a scab. A scab is a two-legged animal with a corkscrew soul, a waterlogged brain, and a combination backbone made of jelly and glue. Where others have hearts, he carries a tumor of rotten principles. . . . Judas Iscariot was a gentleman compared to a scab. For betraying his master he had the character to hang himself—the scab hasn’t. . . . There is nothing lower than a scab.”
Period.
End of story.

Not quite.
I assume you are refering to:
'a scab “is a man who goes in to take the place of his fellow man who is working for better conditions.” Scabs, he added, have “always been ready to take the benefits that flow from organized labor and never been willing to fight to obtain them”'
At my airline we have CRJs because we gave half our seats away to furloghed Mainline guys.
CAL's scope clause allows RJs only up to 50 seats. I'm fairly certain that CAL is the only Legacy to hold that line.
Eagle may have more flowbacks in the left seat than guys they hired.
Comair struck for what, a month? They certainly fought for thier benefits... and we all benefit from their actions.
Nobody driving a prop has taken anything away from a mainline guy.
But GoJets is an alter ego airline. They are doing work at concessionary wages that Trans States pilots refused to accept. And Trans States is not exactly the highest paying carrier out there. They are taking flying directly away from TSA pilots, for lower wages.
And that is scabing.

I just feel bad for the newbie CFIs who apply, interview and get hired without knowing the truth about go-jets. Its sad, but people really need to educate themselves about a company before applying. Its easier said than done I know. Back when I was job hunting I sent my resume to every regional in the country most of whom I didn't know anything about other than they were hiring.

They ought to be doing their research before even applying. I got the gouge on the company before applying. It is pretty much impossible in this day an age (internet) to not be able to get ahold of someone that works the company in question.
