sorry about your situation ...was wondering if that "dodging the interview was a factor in their not hiring you ". I cannot figure any other reason that they turned you down in the review board but if it came up that you defered interviews on numerous times any HR department would be less than thrilled.

This comes from a relative who works in HR at a fortune 500 company FP

 

It's maddening to be turned down and not know why. If it continues to annoy you, then probably worth getting someone to do an employment reference check for you.

 

What about proficiency? Did you had some flight time before going to interview?

They can give you a conditional pre-offer letter because you passed all the parts from the interview, but probably something was not as good as others or into their standards.

As is says the letter ir a PRE CONDITIONAL OFFER.

 

I think you meant to say "add some flight time", and yes I did add additional flight time to my airline apps application, but I was sure to email their hr dept. before I interviewed with the updated flight times. I was also instrument current.

 

Why I'm about to leave aviation entirely. Time to go finish the last 6 months of my A&P and go work at a Ski resort in Europe flipping burgers.

 

It doesn't have to be guys. Really. Perseverance is the key in this business. Almost every pilot you see in an airline cockpit has gone through tough times and disappointment just to get there, and even AFTER they got there. It's a tough business. If you REALLY want to be in this business, just move on and try to get on with other carriers. As has been pointed out, there are quite a few out there.

Don't let the negatives get you down and defeat your goal. Focus on the end game.

 

I have a few "boiler makers" in my life also. Karma truly is a biatch and time has taken care of them.

No matter what you do you will never know with 100% certainty of why you were not offered the position. I would humbly suggest you just try and better yourself in what you have learned in the process. I personally have interviewed at thirteen airlines being offered employment at six of them. That means I was turned down seven times. And each one hurt I will not deny. Being rejected by anything can hurt you. But if you REALLY want to be an airline pilot you must pick yourself up and press on the best you can.

I love my job but it is not perfect. No airline is. No company is for that matter. If I did not have this passion for flying there is no way I would have stayed the course. If you are not extremely lucky like few are, you must have a passion for this profession to survive its challenges.

I personally can't imagine doing anything else and feel blessed to have a profession I dearly love.

Be careful who you listen to. This guy is obviously a little biased in his opinion.

You have the right to be disappointed after receiving the letter. Try to figure out what is going on and keep trucking. Good luck.
