I'm thinking something came up in your background check or credit check perhaps if they do one.

One of three things happened:

They discovered something in your background.

One of your previous employers trashed you.

Or, upon review of how you did on your interview ( they do keep notes and scores) they decided against hiring you.

The last one usually happens at the captain review board, so it was more than likely one of the first two scenarios.

Same exact thin happened to me. And I don't have anything I didn't disclose. Captains review board slapped me
In the face.

Worked out for the best tho. One closed door opens another .

Good luck bro.

Maybe you should try calling your previous employer and act like an airline recruiter. Go get a background check yourself. See what your problem employer says!

The employer that I worked for has a really bad reputation where I live, but also has a reputation of trying to screw up careers of pilots that used to work for him. My best guess is this is the guy...

These are the only 2 things I can think of that would maybe put a damper on the app. I am honestly considering legal action against him if this is going to be an issue for the rest of my pilot career, and that's why I am wondering if there is some way I can determine what the issue was/is.
If you sue the guy, you can then subpoena his records and eagle's records. He won't have any of course, but eagle probably has everything documented. Unfortunately a subpoena is the only way you'll get anything out of them.

The catch-22 is that many employers will also research your civil court record...a history of suing past employers is not going to help you get hired. This applies to high-end companies in general, not just aviation.

Because you interviewed at Eagle. They are really thorough with their HR stuff. People with no REAL issues are turned down regularly even after being conditionally hired.

If I was him, I set up a sham employment check to see what this previous employer says. If it's worthy of legal action from there based on the results, I go after that employers nuts and offer him the opportunity to bid for them back on ebay (provided he had any money left after I finsihed with him).

Just my .02.

Honestly, it's not worth going after your past employer, it's just a regional you got turned down from. It's not the end of the world there's like 20 others. If you get turned down by all the rest of them, I'd definitely look into it....... Still, suing your past employer never looks good....

Actually, it'd be worth it to get him against a wall with proof and simply threaten to persue legal action against him. At the very least, I'd think you could settle out of court with some $$$ compensation for damages already inflicted and an agreement not to repeat the act.

The problem is that the affected pilot will be either forced to be repeatedly victimized and have his career seriously threatened or leave out the employer and have a suspicious employment gap, neither of which is condusive to success in the cutthroat (for now) pilot hiring process.
